RIde With Reagan In Time of Choosing

Just when you may have thought it was safe politically for you to go back to your life as you knew it, the heat is turning up on the battle for the survival of The United States of America. It is going to get real ugly on a variety of fronts, including the potential for civil unrest, and it will be difficult to score if you do not, as Glenn Beck puts it, have reason firmly fixed in her seat.

For starters, as anybody with a calculator knows, the financial status of the United States is unsustainable. Given the emergency, you would think our leaders would be falling all over themselves to help fix the problem. To the contrary, they are adding to the problem. President Obama spoke during the State of the Union about freezing spending at current levels, this after the debt he has put on us surpasses all previous Presidents combined. Obama cannot be that stupid, but he thinks you are. Well, don't worry, the Republicans are have the House now. Worry. Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, has had a plan for fiscal repsonsiblility put forth for two years now, that most Republicans run like the wind away from. Unfortunately, many think the elections were about them and now they get to spend our money. These are the Republican Progressives and Intellectual Elites that must be challenged in 2012.

The State of the Union speech was truly eye popping. Obama pontificated the great advance of the Soviet Space Program Sputnik, that launched US innovation, saying that we are at such a moment now. This speech, made just days before the 25th anniversary of the Challenger disaster, failed to make mention of the anniversary or highlight our space triumphs. On top of that, Obama is dismantling NASA and the space program.

Where is the media on all this? You'll never guess. If an effort to boost the sagging popularity of Obama, they are championing him as the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Reaganite Republican is not amused. I resent it.

Ronald Reagan loved America, the history and all our nation stood for, while Obama pledged to transform America. America was seen by The Gipper as the exceptional city on the hill, whereas Obama speaks of America as one of the countries on the map. Reagan inspired the individual and entrepreneurship, while Obama crushes small business owners with increasing taxation and stifling regulation under his wealth transfer agenda. Had anyone read any of Obama's books, it is clear that Obama had a strong distaste for the Reagan policies and he is actively working to dismantle them.

The contrast, with apologies to the idiots over at Time, will shake your bones. The media, in coordinated motion as Reaganite Republican points out, is trying to reshape the real facts. Please take a moment to listen to one of the best speeches ever given, A Time For Choosing. Reagan gave this speech in October of 1964, which will plant you firmly in your seat:

Speaking of A Time For Choosing, we will all be honoring Reagan on what would be his 100th birthday this upcoming February 6. Those sleazy Democrats, partnered up with he liars in the mainstream media, will be pointing at Obama as the new Reagan, even as Reagan would be appalled at the direction Obama aims to take America. In an announcement on January 27, 2011, The Young America's Foundation announced that Governor Sarah Palin will give the keynote address on February 4 at its Reagan 100 Opening Banquet at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California, for the 100th anniversary celebration of President Reagan's birthday. I am is full support this decision.

It is in fact Palin that best represents Reagan in this day and age. And yes, the media thinks she is a dunce also. Unfortunately, they may be winning the war as many Americans buy into the notion that non Ivy League educated Palin is not capable of leading our country. It is those elites, inclduing Obama, that are the actual idiots, or rather as Reagan said, they just know so much that isn't so.

Back in the day, Democrats underestimated Reagan and many country club Republicans fought hard against him. These are the same Republicans today that think the Tea Party is a problem and have long knives out for Senator Jim Demint, Representative Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin.

The fight among Republicans will present itself soon, so get your scorecard ready. It will not be pretty, but it will be healthy. All these progressive Republicans will be forced to show their faces. Once they are purged, then we shift the fight to the profiteers of propaganda and those in support of the socialistic agenda of Barack Obama, for our freedoms and the survival of our country, the one loved by you and Ronald Reagan, may in fact slip into 1000 years of darkness.

We do have a rendezvous with destiny, for A Time For choosing is fast approaching.

The Surly Bonds

25 years ago today, I was sitting at my Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house having lunch at Florida State University when the horror happened. A hurt Central Floridian and American, I was scheduled to pick up my girlfriend, who would later become my wife, after her class and informed her of the most unfortunate news. We joined America in mourning. It was a bitterly cold Florida day which shook America to it's core. Ronald Reagan comforted America:

God Bless our Challenger 7 Space Hero's, who have "slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God!"

Civility Masks Loss of Liberty

Wasn't it just lovely. In the aftermath of the nauseating attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D:AZ), during the State of the Union last night we had Democrats and Republicans sitting with one another. A grand evening.

And, we all got a chance to witness evidence that President Barack Obama, by far the most radical Commander in Chief America has ever elected, recognize the error in his socialist agenda and pivot to the center. After all, the resounding and humbling defeat he and his agenda took in the mid terms served notice. Obama even read up on Ronald Reagan during his most recent vacation.

Good Grief! Are you always in confusion, surrounded by illusion?

While all this renewed civility is being tossed around, America is fast losing much of her liberty!

Obama is not moving to the center. Quite the contrary, he is doubling down on his agenda of social justice through the transformation of wealth. For those in doubt, Mark Levin sizes it up.

As noted by Trevor Loudon over at New Zeal, a foretelling analysis was put forth by Mark Rudd, detailing pages of the socialist in chief's playbook.

Obama is a very strategic thinker. He knew precisely what it would take to get elected and didn't blow it. He used community organizing methods to mobilize a base consisting of many people who had never voted before or who regularly don't vote....But he also knew that what he said had to basically play to the center to not be run over by the press, the Republicans, scare centrist and cross-over voters away. He made it.

You would have thought the emergence of his black liberation theology minister Jeremiah Wright would have alerted the masses. Or perhaps, letting the real agenda slip out in condescending Joe the Plumber.

Really, what's it like inside the bubble?

Rudd continued This is no stupid guy... Had any of the stupid Republicans read his books, they never could have said, "We don't know who this guy is." You know every thought he's ever had.

How true! If anyone had read Obama's books, it is easy to recognize what he meant by transforming America. Dinesh D'Souza writes of The Roots of Obama's Rage.

While the telepromter in chief continues to fool many with the media in full tow, acting as though he has lost on many of his targeted ideas of gevernmental control, you must watch the other hand.

Under executive order, no cloaking device is necessary as The EPA forges forward with climate change policy using regulation and taxation while the FCC, under net neutrality, is poised to control the dispensing of information. Investing in cost prohibitive measures, such as education and green energy initiatives, is code for more stimulus in an effort to, you guessed it, transfer wealth.

It must be stopped. Help is on the way, in the form of The Little River Band, who hit Hard Rock Orlando Thursday night, and Representative Paul Ryan, the smartest man in the room:

Sunday Night Song

In honor of Martina McBride singing the National Anthem at the AFC Championship game between the host Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets, for tonight's Sunday Night Song, here is McBride visiting The Today Show in Rockefeller Center in New York City with "Independence Day".

Like Sean Hannity, McBride is a great American!

Empower Entrepreneurship

In his inaugural address 50 years ago today, John F. Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country". Lets get back to that and leave socialist thoughts behind for empowering the individual, the entrepreneurial spirit and free market capitalism.

Built From The Future

Ronald Reagan tells a tale. It doesn't mean much now, it's built for the future.

Today, the House of Representatives voted to repeal Obamacare. There is much work ahead, but this is a good start.

Reagan's comments were directed at the Soviet Union and their auto making prowess, or lack thereof. The end result of cost prohibitive inefficient production and delivery for an inferior product is what we can expect from the government running our health care.

Paul Ryan (R:WI), new Chairman of the House Budget Committee and a man among boys on economics in the Congress, cuts to the chase with Larry Kudlow on "The Kudlow Report".

If you cannot meet demand, and we have more patients with less Doctors, and have no pricing power, rationing must occur. Did not someone mention death panels? Sarah Palin was right yet again.

Obamacare is a job killing (we here at BAHL's Blog respect our readership and do not have to resort to adjusting adjectives in effort to prohibit crazy people from acting out on our commentary) machine, which will decrease the value of the product, which is your healthcare and add enormous amounts to the national debt.

Instead of creating new entitlements, Uncle Sam should be working to eliminate them altogether. If not, Ronald Reagan jokingly informed you of what you can expect down the road, a hope of deliverance.

Sunday Night Song

Glenn Beck had recently attended the Broadway production of Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and provided a glowing review, which is in stark contrast to most all other observations presented.

Beck was so impressed he has been back for several other performances, and on his most recent trip, he had an opportunity to meet Bono, of mega rock band U2, who had written the musical score. Beck discussed this on his radio show, and excerpts are available on his website.

Given the seemingly large political gulf between Bono and Beck, it would seem there could be little common ground. However, Glenn indicated, just as the greater majority of us suspected, Bono is actually a man of common sense, very astute on the issues, principled and philanthropic.

Anyhow, I can't wait to see Spiderman on The Great White Way. And I am certainly a big fan of Bono, and U2. So tonight, the Sunday Night Song is U2 and "One":

OUT: West Virginia

VOTES: Tulsa, Notre Dame, San Diego State, Florida, West Virginia, Iowa, Air Force and Washington.

Auburn simply was a team of destiny this season, capping a miracle season of last second victories with yet another one, this time over the Quack Attack, who had nothing going on in the red zone and for some reason, often left All America defensive tackle Nick Fairley unblocked.... Big win for UCF over Georgia....It used to be the East, but the SEC West is a muscle flexing division with three heavyweights and the Coach of the fifth best team the most sought after in the country....Michigan and Michigan State got pummelled on New Years Day, which got one of the Coaches fired. Rich Rod is done, and now Brady Hoke comes to Ann Arbor. He can coach, so good things are in store for Michigan....LSU looked strong in the bowl game, as did Stanford in punishing Virginia Tech, who had won 11 in a row...TCU got it done against Wisconsin, winning one for the little guys....Alabama destroyed Michigan State, and on that day the Tide could have beaten anyone...The Big Ten remains outclassed in bowls, and even ring leader Ohio State barely held off an apparently inept Arkansas.

Even with Taylor Martinez injured, most felt Nebraska could once again use physicality to control the line of scrimmage and defeat Washington, a team the 'Huskers took the throttle off in blasting 56-21 earlier this fall. Not so fast! In what can only be described as a horrendous performance, Nebraska got whipped physically by the Huskies, 19-7. Martinez, playing hobbled, was re-injured, and that unsurprisingly ended the hopes of the Big Red in this game. One can only hope the Big Red learns something from this, from the very top down to the water boy, and offense some offense going forward. It was that bad.

Welcome to the Chik-fil-A Bowl, courtesy of FSU corner Greg Reid. I see you Greg Reid! Reid blasted All America freshman running back Marcus Lattimore, sending him to showers and setting the tone for a big win for the Seminoles. FSU did lose Christian Ponder early, but behind an aggressive defensive effort and some nicely timed offense, Florida State served notice of what the future holds not only in the ACC, but nationally. Job well done Coach Fisher.

Sunday Night Song

It really does not get much better than this.

This particular piece from The Beatles, although credited to Lennon/McCartney, is mostly Paul's work. The song, from the album Revolver, is a favorite of both Lennon and McCartney. And BAHL!

Released by The Beatles on August 5, 1966, and performed by Paul McCartney in 1991, tonight's Sunday Night song is Here, There and Everywhere.

Senseless Act Fuels Senseless Politics

Those of us Americans who live in the world of sanity are still attempting to put our arms the senseless tragedy of the assassination attempt on Representative Gabrielle Giffords, (D:AZ), which left her gravely wounded.

Representative Giffords was holding an event called "Congress on Your Corner" at a Safeway grocery store in northwest Tuscon when a deranged imbecile shot her in the head at point blank range. The gunman killed six others, including Federal Judge John Roll, and wounded another dozen or so.

Congresswoman Giffords was known as a moderate, blue dog Democrat who is well respected on both sides of the isle. I have seen a dozen or so interviews with Rep. Giffords, most notably during somewhat frequent appearances on FOX News "On The Record", hosted by Greta Van Susterin, and have always found her to be principled and respectful.

Although Giffords was not considered a controversial public servant, the Police have indicated Giffords was targeted. Giffords was a supporter of the Obama health care overhaul, but fought the administration hard on border security issues. At this point, it is unclear if any of these or other political positions played a role in the assassination attempt.

In a most unfortunate turn of events, although regrettably expected, many on the far left wing have turned to throwing blame at every conservative political opponent they can think of, from the Tea Party to Rush Limbaugh.

MSNBC's Keith Oblermann immediately played the political card and assessed blame:

Sarah Palin, in an effort to identify supporters of Obamacare who were up for election to be challenged, utilized a map of the United States which had targets placed on the geographical map of the locations of these members of Congress. This illustrative chart, retrospectively, was ill advised in the design. To be clear, no sane individual or group thought the bulls eye to signal the literal action of shooting someone, and everyone knows it.

Olbermann talks about Rep. Allen West speaking of not letting his opponent come out of his home. I recall, it was union thugs on the left that actually terrorized the family of a Bank of America executive, with a child at home, and prohibited them for leaving their home.

Glenn Beck regularly makes the case for non-violence on his radio and television programs.

Olbermann's piece is quick to place blame on conservatives, but curiously left out rhetoric of President Barack Obama. Over his first term, Obama spoke of political opponents saying "They bring a knife, we bring a gun", told Latinos "We are going to punish our enemies" and vowed to fight Republicans with "hand to hand combat".

NY Times Economist Paul Krugman, veering from his supposed area of expertise, has blamed the right as well, suggesting they create a climate of hate. As usual, Krugman is out of line and completely wrong.

For what it is worth, most reports identify the killer, reported to allegedly be Jared Loughner, to be on the left side of the political isle.

What happened in Arizona yesterday is an attack on America, our freedoms and our system of government. The fact that in our political discourse an elected official is not safe from physical harm is something that cannot be tolerated.

Perhaps most sickening regarding the tragedy in Arizona was that a beautiful 9 year old girl, Christina Green, was among those murdered. Recently elected to student council, young Christina had an interest in the political arena and was taken by a neighbor to meet Rep. Giffords. The Green family is like many families in America, with Christina and her mother being supporters of President Obama and her father on the opposite side. Christina, ironically born on September 11, 2001, hoped to attend Penn State.

Perhaps, from both sides of the isle, we can think of Christina as we seek to conduct our political differences with civil discourse and respect. Contrary to media reports, every single Tea Party event I attended did just that. It is for our children, like Christina, that we are so passionate about stopping the transformation of America.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of the unspeakable tragedy. After proper travel through our legal system, I demand the perpetrator be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope he is executed, not after 20 years of appeals, but six weeks from Tuesday.

Sowell Explains Basic Economics

An invaluable source on free market economic theory, Dr. Thomas Sowell joins FOX News Sean Hannity for a frank discussion on the current economic climate in America.

Certainly, it was a welcomed development the current tax structure was voted to be kept in place. This is otherwise incorrectly known and an extension of the Bush tax cuts. Once Wall Street became convinced this would happen, the markets responded positively, including a better than expected increase in private sector hiring.

Unfortunately, due to the continued efforts of the Obama administration to expand regulation and government control, most notably in the financial, health care and energy sectors, the economy will continue to be handicapped and unable to operate at full potential.

As Dr. Sowell commented, the kind of big government control currently being exhibited was unfathomable just 20 years ago. Big government control and Keynesian economic theory, proven unsuccessful time after time, needs to be placed in the dust bin of history once and for all.

Sunday Night Song

With the Seminoles beat down of Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Chik-fil-a Bowl concluded, it was time for New Years Eve festivities. I tuned into FOX News coverage of New Years Eve from Times Square in New York City, hosted by Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly, with the hottest roving reporters you ever saw in Ainsley Earhart and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

I was certainly surprised to see among the musical artists ringing in the New Year was Rick Springfield. Springfield, perhaps better known for his time on ABC's General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake, has as a musical artist a well known hit, Jessie's Girl, which he performed. Jessie's Girl is also recognized as the top karaoke song across the world.

Springfield is not the only person to springboard from General Hospital to musical stardom, but he is the first. After decades on the run, Dr. Noah recently returned to Port Charles for a two year stint, teaming up with the gorgeous Finola Hughes.

Happy New Year from BAHL's Blog, and Dr. Noah. Here is this weeks Sunday Night Song: Springfield and Jessie's Girl:
