Lawrence Eagleberger, former Secretary of State under George H. W. Bush, has died. Most appropriately, tributes are pouring in. Former Secretary of State James A. Baker said Larry was "as good as they come."
Eagleburger was one of our favorites to be heard from on foreign policy topics, both from the standpoint of his vast experience and his frank commentary. No spin associated with Eagleburger! He ran outside the loop. Chain smoking, overweight and seemingly always dis-helved, he often appeared seemingly a lovable curmudgeon.
On all the issues of the day, if you wanted the truth, thorough analysis of the issue and the correct avenue of approach in attacking the problem, you had look no further than comments from Eagleberger.
While his experience in foreign policy was his wheelhouse, he frequently fired opinions on the surrounding political landscape. If only America had listened, Eagleberger had Obama described perfectly. Take a listen:

On Tuesday, former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton declared that Israel has eight days to launch a military strike against Iran, since it is believed that after that point, any attack will release radiation upon the Iranian citizenry.

Unfortunately, as we have written about recently, the Obama administration appears to be against Israel taking action and seems carelessly naive regarding Iran. Meanwhile, Israel is in deep danger, and I believe they have every right to defend themselves.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is an individual that completely understands the war on terror, unlike our President. I am reminded of the comments Netanyahu made shortly after 9-11:

Iran has proclaimed their intention to eliminate Israel, and I believe they mean what they say. I also believe Iran has demonstrated they cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. Therefore, given the failed policies that have lead us to this point, unlike President Obama, I support actions Israel may deem appropriate to defend themselves.
Last week, the New York Times, of all people, wrote of the Obama administration mastermind behind "dismantling General Motors and rewriting the rules of American capitalism."
This would be the howl of a lifetime if were not true. But beyond the stupidity of leaving this massive and vitally important undertaking to a neophyte with little to zero experience participating in the private sector or formal training in economics, it demonstrates contempt for our capitalistic system and the lack of understanding for the love affair Americans have had with the automobile.

In an interview on FOX Business with Neil Cavuto discussing the upcoming trip to the middle east by President Obama, former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger , who once referred to Obama as a charlatan, called Obama's foreign policy amateur hour at the White House.
Eagleburger should not have limited his remarks to foreign policy. The arrogance and naivete of this administration is inflicting damage that will take years to overcome if that will be possible by the time this group is through.
