Bye Brenda
Neil Cavuto said of Brenda Buttner: "She took stock of life much more than any stock in life. It's what separated her from everyone else in this business. Not just dollars, you see, Brenda had depth. Let it be known that Brenda Buttner made us want to watch a business show with heart. Her heart, her spirit. She democratized dollars and just made sense."
I watched and appreciated Brenda for a better part of two decades, from her start over at CNBC to her last work at FNC and FBN.
No doubt, I will certainly miss her, and always think of her during Bulls and Bears.

Please Present The Evidence
Of all people to pull a Harry Reid, we find Mitt Romney this afternoon with Neil Cavuto.
Reid's false accusations against Mitt Romney regarding taxes were accurately deemed despicable behavior in 2012, and an attack on Donald Trump with respect to this topic is seemingly, no, it is, beneath Mitt Romney now.
We asked for, and never received, evidence from the low life Reid, who was lying.
Hey Mitt, present your evidence? Your diminishing credibility is at stake.
Or are you compromising principles playing establishment politics, which would be an example of why Trump is well on his way to the nomination.

The Essentials
Tonight, until the GOP's caves, we sit on the precipice of a government shutdown.
What we will ever do without all those government programs and federally funded boondoggles? If we can do without the non-essential personnel, are they essential in the first place? Shut it down!
While we wait, why don't we get the essentials, brilliantly chronicled in a most entertaining essay from a master of political commentary and wit, Neil Cavuto of FOX News Channel; Take a listen:

Left Looney on Economics
The James Madison Institute reports on the Economic Literacy of Progressives and finds exactly what you might expect, a train wreck.
George Mason University Professor Daniel Klein and Zogby researcher Zeljka Buturovic surveyed 4,835 American adults on eight questions about basic economics. They also asked each of the respondents about their political leanings, grouping them into six categories: progressive/very liberal; liberal; moderate; conservative; very conservative; and libertarian. They wrote about their findings in The Wall Street Journal.
As Klein asserts, “The left has trouble squaring economic thinking with their political psychology, morals, and aesthetics.”
If you are like me, you run into this thinking everyday. If you take for example our current economic crisis, spearheaded in large measure by decades of socialist programs, most with good intentions, which are geared to assist fellow citizens, you find governmental initiatives that end up being entitlement programs that are drowning our financial system and placing Uncle Sam at the doorstep of bankruptcy. Going green, presented as a worthwhile effort to protect the environment masquerading as a global transfer of wealth, is a prime example of this. Current legislation proposed as the cap and trade bill, if voted into law, will likely be the event that does bankrupt the ole USA.
“We must face the fact that the preservation of individual freedom is incompatible with a full satisfaction of our views of distributive justice"
-F.A. Hayek
We recently had an example of a progressive politician, who really demonstrated what the study identified. Get a load of this recent interview on FOX News Neil Cavuto and Vermont Representative Peter Welch, and must I qualify that he is a Democrat:
That was brutal. Cavuto finally recognized that the progressives are lost in an economic sea. The Congressman simply cannot comprehend what the elimination of the dividends of British Petroleum (BP:NYSE) and other oil related companies would do to the pensions to most Americans.
So with a handful of economic idiots running things in Washington, what can we expect going forward in the marketplace? The worst is behind us according to President Barack Obama. Dr. Arthur Laffer, former economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan, penned an article for The Wall Street Journal that is raising quite a few eyebrows among those on the periphery of the investor community. Art Laffer's colleague, Steve Moore of The Wall Street Journal, weighs in and you better sit down for this one.
Dr. Laffer has put this conclusion forward for a few months now, and when you couple the Gulf Oil Spill, an economic and environmental of unmeasurable magnitude, you put in some sell stops. You may still have some time for trades, but you have been warned.

It's Happening Now
For homeowners, credit is still marginally difficult to secure even as most banks have received federal assistance to resume fair and prudent lending practices. But, while even the most intellectually challenged banker can make money borrowing short at next to free and lending long at around 5%, few banks are doing so. Why? Do they know something we don't? Is there another shoe to drop?
FOX Business Neil Cavuto uncovers it is happening as we speak.
Unfortunately, the economic policies of the current administration, which can be summed up as an assault on small business, is prohibiting the marketplace from resuming economic growth. Yes, a jobless recovery.
If these proposed actions, from excessive new regulation, increased taxation, "skyrocketing" energy costs under cap & trade to the insane prospect of government run health care, the prognosis for real recovery is bleak.
The commercial real estate sector cannot bounce back without small business expansion, which is fueled by entrepreneurs who start and expand small businesses, and thus occupy office and retail space. The current environment is not supportive to small business. A sad situation indeed.

Arrogance On The Loose
Last week, the New York Times, of all people, wrote of the Obama administration mastermind behind "dismantling General Motors and rewriting the rules of American capitalism."
This would be the howl of a lifetime if were not true. But beyond the stupidity of leaving this massive and vitally important undertaking to a neophyte with little to zero experience participating in the private sector or formal training in economics, it demonstrates contempt for our capitalistic system and the lack of understanding for the love affair Americans have had with the automobile.
Glenn Beck summarizes in his brilliant fashion the idiocy of it all:
Finally, although this kid would not know a Catalina from a Bonneville, the culprit for closing Pontiac has been identified!
In an interview on FOX Business with Neil Cavuto discussing the upcoming trip to the middle east by President Obama, former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger , who once referred to Obama as a charlatan, called Obama's foreign policy amateur hour at the White House.
Eagleburger should not have limited his remarks to foreign policy. The arrogance and naivete of this administration is inflicting damage that will take years to overcome if that will be possible by the time this group is through.

BAHL's Babes: Carrie Prejean
Three years ago at The Miss USA pageant, Miss South Carolina fired out a completely illiterate answer to a question and became the center of media attention. A firestorm has happened again this year, but this time it has teeth and will draw a political line in the sand. As one to speak my mind, let me emphatically position myself on the playing field for this debate. In doing so, for the third time in as many weeks, someone completely off the prior radar will become a BAHL's Babe, and that is Miss USA runner up, Miss California, the lovely Carrie Prejean.
Ms. California had the unfortunate opportunity to answer a question concerning gay rights by a low life gay rights activist judge, who interjected his personal biases into the pageant. The answer Ms. Prejean replied with likely cost her the title, but it won admiration from many, including me.
After the pageant, the judge and questioner, a Mr. Perez Hilton, posted his rationale on his website and verbally assaulted Ms. Prejean. Oh, and the folks out in Hollywood are none to pleased with her either, including some of those associated with the pageant.
Mr. Perez is all hot and bothered, I assume, that the liberal folks outs in California recently voted against legalizing gay marriage. He has every right to be, for this is America! I think he should leave his personal political bias at the door if he is asked to judge a contest. Perez indicated in his question his opinion that gay marriage is a "hot" topic for America. It is not, and 70% polled are against it.
Although the answer Ms. Prejean gave showed her nervousness, she was wonderful in the way she discarded political correctness and answered from the heart. I agree with her answer, that marriage is sacred and between a man and a woman, as taught in Christianity. I also share her opinion that those who are gay and wish to form a civil union are welcomed to do so, and I wish them all the best. However, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, as they say!

As for Carrie, she is quite stunning and a former San Diego Padre girl as I understand it. In a post pageant interview with FOX Business Cheif Neil Cavuto, Prejean also indicates she is anti bailout and not a fan of welfare. Take a listen:
I am not sure what you may be into, but I will say that given the events of the Miss USA pageant, I am into Miss California, and Carrie Prejean is the newest BAHL's Babe!

Abusive Politicos Frog Strangled on FOX
Those pesky AIG bonuses continue to dominate the news cycle. Thankfully for us, the usual political factions are hard at work protecting the good of the people. Or are they? Don't be fooled. Glenn Beck absolutely destroys Connecticut Attorney General Richard Bluementhal, who has the AIG bonus recipients covered dead to right but has no idea what his own Congressman Barney Frank has been up to. Don't miss this exchange:
Beck further blasted Barney Frank again today, and you have to wonder how Frank continues to be elected given his incompetence. Take a listen:
Earlier today, I read an outstanding piece over at Capm's Blog on an approved measure out of the House Financial Services Committee, chaired by our fearless idiot at large, Barney Frank (D:MA) called the "Pay for Performance Act of 2009." As Captain points out, this bill was written by our Congressman, Alan Grayson (D:FL). Captain accurately describes Grayson, who made his fortune suing the likes of Haliburton (HAL:NYSE) over defense contracts, as the sleazy political novice that he is, but then Grayson showed up on Fox Business's Cavuto with FOX Business Chief Neil Cavuto. Ladies and Gentleman, this was not pretty:
Let it be known to all abusive politicians trying to hoodwink the public; some folks are still blinded by the Obama rhetorical rise, but the ship is already sinking and the abusive arrogance on display will be challenged. In the event you have not got the memo, we surround you and you will hear from us!

Always Blame The Appraiser
Neil Cavuto of FOX Business Network interviews Connie DeGroot of Coldwell Banker and Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel on the ever changing role appraisals are playing in the home buying process. Take a listen:
Underwriter stipulations for declining markets, of which Florida is one, usually require 3 sales within the previous 90 days within a maximum of one mile radius. In the current environment, the pool of comparables rarely have more than one sale which fits this criteria.
Therefore, either the radius need to be expanded or the time frame must be exceeded. I have submitted reports in which it was necessary to exceed standard guidelines for comparable ranges with respect to time and distance, with extensive commentary explaining why this was necessary. Underwriters have kicked back many of these, asking for those sales within 90 days. They do not exist. Certainly, if there had been comparable sales which fit this criteria, they would have been utilized in the first place.
So, we can see how we hit a fork in the road. It comes down to banks and their willingness to lend. I believe sometimes the appraisal is the labeled the culprit on deals that go south, which is unfortunate.
And, just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, or your local strip club, comes this CNBC story which throws a jab at us appraisers.
I have not even been to a club in over year, including the DR, due to financial constraints, of course.

Lessons Learned From Giuliani
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, well known for his masterful performance under the extreme duress of the terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001, brought New York City back from excessive crime and massive budgetary shortfalls.
The issues Giuliani faced in NYC are not to scale of what the Obama administration currently faces. However, Giuliani's tenure does provide a blueprint for success that can be examined, and unfortunately, the Obama administration is going a different direction. And you wonder why we are cliff diving at the corner of Wall and Broad. Take a listen to Rudy with Neil Cavuto on FOX Business:

Economic Cyanide
The scary economic times we are experiencing now has led many so called experts to predict we are in the throws a new Great Depression. I don't put much weight on these comments since about 3 economists saw the housing crisis coming, and heck, I have no idea what I am having for dinner tomorrow.
One interesting fellow in this regard is Hary Dent, investment strategist and economic futurist and author of The Roaring 2000's. Dent's stategies are quite interesting and are based primarily on demographics, where for instance, he contends that this post baby boomer generation is the first not to expand in population and thus, as spending has peaked, economic growth will contract.
One could contend that the large number of immigrants that have been pouring into this country over the last several years would be helpful in this regard. But as one of my well respected cohorts, The Wizard, accurately points out, the massive influx of low skilled, uneducated and very poorly equipped immigrants are a tremendous inventory overhang on our system, which is overwhelming our resources and is no longer manageable.
In his book The Roaring 2000's Investor Dent predicted inevitable deflation in 2009 immediately followed by a depressionary cycle. Dent recently visited with Neil Cavuto on the Fox Business Channel:
Dent is now pushing his new book The Great Depression Ahead, and projects the DOW to fall to around 3800. In an ordinary market, I would unload the truck buying the DOW at 3800.
But wait, damn it, we seem to have upcoming economic policies that will not be investor friendly, and these policies will no doubt heighten risk and limit investment.
In a special column for The Glen Beck Program titled The Looters Are Coming, Wall Street Journal senior economics writer Stephen Moore outlines the economic cyanide for us. Once again, Moore references Ayn Rand and her classic novel Atlas Shrugged. I am glad Ronald Reagan is not around to see this. Now, step away from the window ledge!

BS on the BCS
Apparently, we have a financial crisis of the ages gripping our country, but in the midst of voting themselves a pay raise for the horrendous job they have cumulatively done, our congress may soon debate the merits of dismantling the Bowl Championship Series, or BCS.
Perhaps this was spearheaded by the messiah, Barack Obama, proclaiming he would like to see a college football playoff. I like it just the way it is, where although it may well be settled on the field, the national championship is mythical, where a team could argue their position as champs. The Texas Longhorns may well be in that position this year should Oklahoma defeat Florida.
This is great as it keeps people discussing the game from all different allegiances and perspectives.
Perhaps congress could contain their incompetence to governance and leave the color anbd pageantry of college football alone.
Neil Cavuto gets to the bottom of it. Take a listen.

The Most Hated Man in America
The immediate aftermath following the historical election of our 44th President Barack Obama has presented some interesting items of note. One such item took place yesterday, and although it was noted by a few folks other than myself, much of the country likely missed it, or refused to recognize the classy gesture President George W. Bush extended to President-elect Obama.
Republicans and conservatives are being asked to get behind Obama by folks who have spent the last six years trying to impeach Bush and/or Cheney. These people never got past their ridiculous "selected not elected" mindset and never gave Bush a shot. Bush actually won Florida in 2000 (I live and vote in Florida) and this type of behavior exhibited against Bush hurt our country.
I will post my scorecard on the Bush presidency when it is over, but it may take the same tone of a post today by Bizzy Blog.
The hatred of Bush is improperly placed. FOX Business Chief Neil Cavuto recognizes this and notes the gesture by Bush to Obama, offering some commentary on it. Take a listen below:
Good job Neil, I think you are right on target!

No Obama
The 2008 Presidential election decision should be extremely clear to any sensible thinking individual by this point. I would think between the lack of international (or domestic for that matter) experience in the challenging geopolitical climate in which we live and the deplorable associations unmasking horrendous judgement, it would be crystal clear.
Then, there is the economic policies remniscent of the Carter Administration. As famed economist Arthur Laffer put it, the economic policies put forth by Obama are flawed. Fox Business Chief Neil Cavuto recently has Laffer on his show "Cavuto" to discuss the economic policies of the McCain and Obama campaigns.

Want Change? Drill Now!
Famed Texas oil man T. Boone Pickens discusses the oil industry and the runaway price per barrel with Fox Business Chief Neil Cavuto.
Someone alert the stupid police in Washington we got a problem. Since members of the US Congress appear willing to do absolutely nothing about this issue, what can we do other than grabbing our pitch forks? How about turning to a guy who continues to exhibit leadership, Newt Gingrich. Under his wonderful platform, American Solutions, he has introduced a new program.
I am all for it! Although T Boone forgot more when it comes to oil than I'll ever know, I continue to think oil is a bubble. Even so, our dependency on evil dictators is not only bad economics, but leaves us with an unnecessary vulnerability in the global war on terror. Remember that little skirmish?
