On New Years Eve, a true New York City treasure, Tavern on the Green, closed the doors for the last time. This was a truly magnificent dining experience on the upper west side of Central Park, a magical place with incredible decor.Revenues were not an issue at Tavern on the Green, but money problems appear to have led to it's demise. The courts are involved, and it is very sad it has come to this.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visits there over the years. Beyond an outstanding dining experience with top notch food, the ambiance, either in the restaurant or in the gardens, was something to behold. Certainly, for those of us who visit New York City, this is a very sad development.
