A Business of Keeping Trouble

As we are involved in another city being burned and looted in the name social justice by agitators who claim grievances against supposed racial inequality and police brutality, please be advised of what Booker T. Washington informed you of a century ago.

Along with the class of colored people keeping the troubles and hardships before the public Washington describes are the Democrats, who need a downtrodden voting base to continue to turn to them for help, which since the Great Society of LBJ which declared war on poverty, has failed to produce any measurable benefit other than electing Democrats.

It is a business of keeping trouble, indeed.

Conspiratorial Dishonesty

As the 2016 election approaches, we note that a much larger portion of the electorate than participated in the 2008 election will be younger voters who have little or no recollection of the history of Hillary Clinton.

Therefore, with the education of our younger friends in mind, we will continue to do our part to present them with commentary and evidence of who Hillary Clinton really is; an intellectually elite individual with a long history of conspiratorial dishonesty.

As we previously posted, Hillary is an arrogant hypocrite, an intellectual progressive operative with disdain for he blue collar working families she professes to support, an individual who dreams of squelching free markets through taxation and regulation championing crony capitalism support of self promotion and her political advocates all the while welcoming and and all opportunities to abuse power.

Lacking Toolbox Screwed Phillips

Lawrence Phillips
Last week, former Nebraska running back Lawrence Phillips, already serving a sentence of 25 years, is suspected in the death of a cellmate in Kern Valley prison in California.

The saga of Phillips has left the wonderful folks in Nebraska with a stain that will not go away.  Phillips brought a lot of joy to Nebraska fans displaying his immense talent on the gridiron. LP was brilliant on the field, with physical talent that potentially could have have led him to be one of the top running backs of all time.

However, his actions off the field, most notably after he left Nebraska for the National Football League, have left nothing but sadness and a series of victims.

One tackle Lawrence could not avoid was his troubled upbringing, where he was abandoned and abused among other negative things. Phillips, who was smart and personable on occasion, was and is infested with demons he is ill-equipped to escape from.

1620 The Zone Sharp & Benning co-host Damon Benning, a former 'Husker tailback who once roomed with Phillips, shared his conflicted thoughts on Phillips with an extremely sincere, emotional and eye opening reflection of sad series of events which led to the position this gifted but troubled individual finds himself in.

This was as powerful of thirty minutes of radio I have heard in many of moon, and I salute Damon Benning for sharing his heartfelt thoughts on this difficult situation as his perspective as a media member, former teammate and friend from back in the day.  POWERFUL STUFF!

Dr. Tom Osborne, who was coach at Nebraska during the time Phillips played at UN, caught tremendous flak from the media when after suspension, Osborne re-instated Phillips before a Fiesta Bowl matchup with Florida, which Nebraska won easily 62-24.  As Benning noted, there was more to this story, and Osborne needs to make no apologies, and deserves respect.

Phillips needs to be held accountable for his own actions; and he is.  But his story is sadly not unique, as the list of many young athletes, and normal youngsters, with bright futures have for whatever reason taken the wrong path and derailed if not terminated the opportunities presented them. Like many others, with an individual like Phillips, blessed with charm, intelligence and incredible physical abilities, failing to be adequately equipped to withstand the pressures of life, the potential of that individual to be a thriving member of society is lost.

Although the reasons behind these failures are voluminous and worthy of a few semesters of sociology classes, the decline of marriage and the family unit with the number of children being raised by one parent, grandparents or others, seems a root cause.  The divorce rate, particularly among blacks, has increased dramatically since the mid sixties, seemingly related to the policies of The Great Society.  The demise of the family has directly had a negative impact on the children, with children raised by single parents much more likely to live in poverty having their future success significantly threatened.

We have got to fix this, and as Benning pointed out, get folks back to having concern for others, with confidence and pride to respect themselves in effort to maximize the wonderful opportunities we are presented with.

Timing is everything, and two candidates have announced their intent to win the presidency.  One, Hillary Clinton, seeks to continue and increase the role government plays in our lives, thinking they can better dictate the path our young people take to success.  Marco Rubio makes the case that the government cannot and should not take the place of the family, and that we need to reclaim the family supporting marriage with parents raising children with responsibility and accountability, thus allowing youngsters the freedom to pursue their dream no matter where the lead.

Having taken an incredible path reaching high levels inclusive of a career in the National Football League, at the end of the day, Phillips could not escape the demons of his past.  As Benning so appropriately noted, he did not have the tools in his toolbox, for which we are all saddened.

The investigation into the death of Phillips cellmate remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed as of yet reports The Omaha World Herald.  However, the death has been ruled a homicide by strangulation.

Rubio Rising

Marco Rubio
Photo/Getty Images
From the Freedom Tower in Miami, Florida Senator Marco Rubio on Monday announced he will enter the race to seek the republican nomination for president in 2016.

While Rubio possesses a boatload of the attributes most would consider presidential, most thought he would wait a few cycles to get in the race.  However, although the field is expected to be strong, inclusive of mentor Jeb Bush, Rubio concluded the time is now.

Having watched Marco Rubio rise in the Florida House, combined with his most compelling history and appreciation for the risk and reward component of free market capitalism, I strongly supported Rubio as he battled the unprincipled Charlie Crist to become my Senator from Florida.

While Rubio has most impressive in many ways during his senate tenure, his entrance in the immigration debate, an issue for which is recognized Rubio has great passion, joining with the gang of eight to arrive at a bill of compromise that seemingly violated the principles we entrusted him to protect.  I consider this Rubio's choice in this area of legislation one which Rubio will have to fight to overcome, but according to a report, Rubio may have reasoning that could be deemed somewhat credible.

Unlike Hillary Clinton, the presumed Democratic opponent, Rubio is a real person, a family man who embraces the history and traditions of America, from the Constitution to NFL football.  Rubio is a big fan of the Miami Dolphins, with his wife Jeanette a former cheerleader for the Fins.

Rubio should not be discounted. Although Jeb Bush is a very capable and smart guy, perhaps the best of the Bush family, America seems to want to stay out of the Bushes and due to progressive positions inclusive of but not limited to Common Core, conservatives are most weary of Bush as well.  Therefore, Rubio can not only win Florida from Bush, but also the nation.

It seems Rubio will have to beat Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and potentially Scott Walker for the nomination. On the campaign trail, few will be able to match Rubio with his youthful exuberance and passion, high level command of the Constitutional principles our governance should be adhering to and his extremely compelling personal story.  Add in his Cuban heritage, he has the chance to secure a large portion of the minority vote.

Contrary to media assessments and the propaganda released from the Democrats, the GOP is blessed to have three candidates in Cruz, Paul and Rubio to choose from.  I look forward to vigorous and respectful debate from this group, and other potential candidates who step forward, in the upcoming months.

Futures Begin With A Pop

Over the last several years, it has been a great pleasure of mine to have participated with the events for young athletes and scholars through the Pop Warner organization.  I have attended many a football game, with eyes fixated not only on the gridiron, but on the lovely young cheerleader teams lending their support.

Like any organization of this scope with such a long history, Pop Warner is not without their share of issues. With a strong participation from volunteers, it sort of goes with the territory.  But it should be noted, and it will be here and now, that the opportunities presented to our youth through this fine organization are endless, as the life lessons obtained will power the success of these future leaders for a lifetime.

The regional and national awards banquets are an outstanding avenue of recognition for the scholar athletes, who are recognized not only for their athletic prowess but for their work in the classroom and in the community.

Should you have children of age, I would highly recommend you giving consideration to having your child be participatory in the opportunities afforded within this organization.  Not only have hundreds of thousands of children benefited from their involvement, many parents have as well.  Friendships formed help form the bedrock of  principles many of us as individuals and teammates seek to hold dear.

As my time has expired for intimate involvement, I will cherish with great appreciation the time spent with my family and other families as we supported the fine young people involved, who without doubt, will be the future leaders of this great country.

May God Bless them all!

A Champion of Distortion and Failure

On Sunday, the inevitable announcement came that Hillary Clinton will be running for president, seeking the Democratic nomination that slipped through her fingers in 2008 when a dashing community organizer with spiteful disdain for America appeared as the one the progressive left has been dreaming about stole it away.

Although this has the look of a coronation, even with the Clinton's setting the rules of engagement for the media and potential primary opponents, it is hard to imagine that no other Democrat wants this job.

Almost immediately, her campaign is full full of missteps and mistruths.  For example, she went on a bus tour stopping along the way at a Chipolte (owned by huge Democrat supporters ) for a bite to eat, just like the common man does each day.  Except, this is activity she simply does not engage in, having not paid for a meal in decades and reportedly not having driven a car since 1996.  Hillary is far form a normal person, in fact loathing the little guy she purports to wake up every day to make life better for.

Hillary Clinton in staged Iowa event.
Today, she met with common folk for a chat, even though the "common folk" were driven to the location by campaign operatives. "Everyday" Iowans outside looking in had a rough day, but for those on the inside, it was sunshine and lollipops. For the Clintons, it is all a fabrication, and the joke is on us.

While she has logged many a mile, as prospective GOP candidate Carly Fiorina so appropriately pointed out, flying is an activity, not an accomplishment.  Clinton operatives are out touting her record, recently evidenced by Howard Dean noting she is the only candidate with foreign policy experience.

New flash to Dean; the experience is far from anything to brag about.  While she was Secretary of State, the situation in the middle wast has completely collapsed due to horrendous polices with the middle east left in ruin having become a major national security threat with Iran gaining legitimacy and strength.

Her reset with Russia have left us with Vladimir Putin invading countries and with our relationship with Russia at its lowest point since the conclusion of the cold war.  At best, her lack of attention to detail in Benghazi resulted in our Ambassador being murdered, along with three other heroes with nobody held in account for the tragedy.

Clinton lied about the incident to the American people, and made no mention about the real reason for the firefight, which was illegal gun running. But hey, what difference does it really make?

Recently, she lied about email accounts during her tenure as Secretary of State, where she destroyed emails of her experiences, skirting federal law. While due to this matter she should be facing jail time, it becomes evident that Clinton does not have to live by the same rules, or laws, you and I, and most other elected officials, do.

On a side note, I get real torqued when politicians think they are above it all and destroy documents that belong to the people and sever the preservation of the historical record., where the Clinton clan has along history, inclusive of Sandy Burglar.

We have informed you of the danger of Hillary Clinton in previous posts, most notably in this piece.  Hillary Clinton is a liar, far more interested in self promotion than the health and welfare of America, a country she has disdain for as evidenced by her close associations over the years with anti-American activists inclusive of Saul Alinsky and Frances Fox Piven.

Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to be your champion. I want individuals across the fruited plain to all be champions, forging their own path unencumbered by a controlling government. As Senator Rick Santorum recently said, "Clinton believes government is the solution to the challenges our nation faces, not the underlying cause of many of those problems".

She is an arrogant hypocrite, an intellectual progressive operative with disdain for the blue collar working families she professes to support, an individual who dreams of squelching free markets through taxation and regulation championing crony capitalism in support of self promotion and her political advocates all the while welcoming opportunities to abuse power.

In no way, shape or form is this an individual we should even remotely consider for our highest office.  She is a champion of distortion and failure.

Stand With Rand

After the opening day at ball parks across the fruited plain and the morning after the nets were cut down in Indianapolis, home of some ridiculous political chicanery in recent weeks, the announcement of a GOP candidate for president will be made, one for "A Different Kind of Republican Leader".

We need a new kind of republican representative in the presidential race, and perhaps Paul, with his libertarian leanings, can attract voters from differing areas of the spectrum and win the nomination.  Paul is throwing a wide net, and has reached out to the minority communities.

Should Paul win the nomination, he is positioned well to perhaps siphon off some the voters the Democrats have recently taken for granted. Any shift toward the GOP in some of the minority communities could bear substantial fruit.

I feel quite comfortable standing with Rand, and look forward to hearing more from him as the process continues.

Happy Easter

Jesus Is Risen! Christ Our Lord Has Risen Indeed!

Happy Easter!

A Despicable Representative of the People

Sen. Harry Reid (D:NV)
Last week, with preparations for another campaign set to get off the ground with a scheduled event, Senator Harry Reid (D:NV) announced he will not seek re-election.

While America had hoped the citizens of Nevada would have handled this in previous elections, with a significant war chest boisterously buoyed by waves of corruption, Reid has always held off would be challengers.

Now, it appears his health has gotten the best of him.  While we wish no political individual ill will in a personal sense to any of those we disagree with politically, we cheer the departure of Sen. Reid, whom we deem a despicable representative of the people.

Sen. Reid is an arrogant liar, with limited respect for the checks and balances instilled by our founders who found the success and advancement of himself and those he supports above the will and future prosperity of the American people.  Reid lied on the Senate floor, slandering GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney about having not paid taxes, and assaulted the Koch brothers for no apparent reason.

The damage he has done leading the senate, prohibiting legislation from being voted on and paralyzing the will of the people, is staggering. Beyond that, time and time again, Reid has exhibited disdain for our military. You may recall he said the surge in Iraq was failure and the war was lost.

As we have previously posted, Senator Reid is reprehensible and rancid and the type of individual without a moral compass our founders warned us about.

Supposedly Reid had an early January accident in his home, giving him a shiner to behold; however, that may not be quite true either.  Perhaps somebody put five across his eyeball?

While Reid may indeed be in failing health, and many have noticed he has appeared to slip in recent months, could it be that there is anticipation of the GOP holding the White House and the Congress, which may lead to investigations of the mounting evidence of Reid's actions which beg an ethics inquiry?

History will not be kind to this despicable representative of the people.  The citizens of Nevada should have booted him years ago, and thanks to their ineptitude, our nation must suffer much of the consequences.
