Overdrive Turn For Bachmann

I have often heard former Florida Congressman Lou Frey say a day in politics is a lifetime, and nothing could be further from the truth.

Last week, Representative Michele Bachmann, R:MN, announced she would not seek to retain her congressional seat in 2014, citing her belief in term limits.  Needless to say, for those of us who champion the rule of law and our founding principles, the loss of Bachmann and her strong voice will leave a significant void.

Jim Graves, who Bachmann narrowly defeated in 2012, not to be confused as a statesman, responded with a few digs directed at Bachmann.  Graves effort at ridicule and divisiveness brings to mind those progressive tactics of Sal Alinsnky. Stay classy there Jim.

In the article of propaganda for Graves, The Huffington Post presented approximately 20 slides hammering Bachmann for various positions over the years, thinking they were exposing weaknesses. As usual with these hit jobs, somewhere along the way the truth got lost, as a review of these slides give indication how correct the assessments of Bachmann are.  Although I am intrigued by the opportunity to tackle each one individually here, I will cite two that should be illustrative.

In slide six, Bachmann labels the tax code as a weapon of mass destruction.  Does any body remain unconvinced the administration is not restricting commerce and punishing opponents through the tax code? In slide eight, Bachmann warns back in March of 2011 of the Obama administration being a "gangster government." "I don't take back my statements on gangster government," she said, referring to a charge she made during the debate over health care reform. "I think that there have been actions taken by the government that are corrupt."  Oh my gosh was that exponentially correct.

Just six months ago, reports had Bachmann prepared to challenge a weakened John Boehner, R:OH, for the speakership. Oh, what a difference a couple of months makes.

Bachmann, a Tea Party favorite, has had a bullseye on her back for quite some time, sadly from both sides of the aisle.  While the left attempted to discredit her a a moonbat, that line of attack only gained traction for the thousands of faithful MSNBC viewers.

It was attacks from the moderate republican camp that really made it tough for Bachmann.  We have presented many posts about Bachmann efforting to question the levels of infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood and their operatives within our government.  Those inquiries drew the ire of GOP leaders Lindsay Graham and John McCain, not to mention John Boehner.

Recently, even Karl Rove took some shots at Bachmann, although he was incorrect in his assessment, which is becoming all too frequent.

Bachmann was correct in asking these questions, and given the intense level of attack in response that came her way, it would not be difficult to conclude she hit a significant nerve.  Hey, wasn't John McCain just over in Syria hanging out with these folks?

The left was employing a tactic previously used to attack Sarah Palin, in the form of filing a series of complaints about about campaign finance.  Ultimately, these accusations and complaints result in no findings; however, the monetary expenses and time and opportunity costs in defense of these accusations are substantial.

Look closely, as an examination of the IRS actions paint a similar picture of efforting to intimidate and punish punatively political opponents.

Bachmann was always a champion of free market capitalism, and had a complete handle on the economic issues confronting Uncle Sam. In addition, she had and has keen insight on the issues surrounding the global war on terrorism.

It is sad Bachmann will relinquish her position in the fight for freedom, and one can only hope she will reposition herself in another arena to help us in the fight to save America.  Bachmann is a fighter whose voice we need in the fight for freedom we find ourselves engaged in, so I expect we have not heard the last from her.

Violation of the Constitutional Rights of Citizens

We have said we are running out of time, but it has come time.

For now, we can point to two extremely significant breaches of trust by the Obama administration in Benghazi and with the actions of the IRS that, if I may quote from the articles of impeachment of President Richard Nixon, are subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

While Benghazi continues to boil, and rightfully so, and while we still search for the truth regarding the bombings in Boston, (remember those?), jumping to the pole position of scandal are the actions of the Internal Revenue Service.

Everyone but the media has known about this abuse of power for about two years, but on Friday, the IRS took an unusual step and apologized, blaming low level employees for "targeting" Conservative groups, with heavy influence on groups associated with The Tea Party. However, over the weekend, things really blew up revealing multiple levels of the breach of constitutional rights of citizens. Megan Kelly of FOX News has more:

As far as I can tell, and I am not a lawyer, in these actions the First and Fourth Amendments to the Constitution have been knowingly violated. Of particular concern was President Obama out there today speaking as though he had no knowledge of such activities and would oppose them if he knew, nothing short of a complete lie.  That goes against the community activist Rules for Radicals bible by Saul Alinsky Obama subscribes to, the one that singles out, polarizes and ridicules opponents with the ends justifying any means necessary.

The way the administration has utilized the IRS, who will be become the financial enforcement arm of Obamacare, is beyond troubling.  It is also beyond the scope of our laws. Glenn Beck has had enough and has called for action to be taken in the form of appointing  special counsel to explore the impeachment of President Obama.  Wayne Allen Root, who claims to be among those targeted, suggests the IRS scandal should lead to Obama's impeachment.

Kimberly Strassel of The Wall Street Journal wrote in May of 2012 how President Obama and his operatives targeted wealthy supporters of Mitt Romney.  Elected officials on both sides, from Diane Feinstein, D:CA, to Susan Collins, R:ME are simply stunned, obviously not readers of the Journal, the most read paper in America.

While those who are charged to protect our Constitution from these type of abuse should be readying themselves for action, Mark Levin is not confident they will,  calling out Republicans in the House for being “timid” and "passive" about taking action. I quite agree.
In reviewing the articles for impeachment of Richard Nixon, there appear to be a handful easily applied in this case involving the IRS. They are the following:

1. He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavoured to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.

2. Endeavouring to misuse the Internal Revenue Service, an agency of the United States;

3. He misused the Internal Revenue Service and other executive personnel, in violation or disregard of the constitutional rights of citizens, by directing or authorizing such agencies or personnel to conduct or continue electronic surveillance or other investigations for purposes unrelated to national security, the enforcement of laws, or any other lawful function of his office; he did direct, authorize, or permit the use of information obtained thereby for purposes unrelated to national security, the enforcement of laws, or any other lawful function of his office; and he did direct the concealment of certain records made by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of electronic surveillance.

Now we get word the Justice Department has secretly and without cause obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press.  As illegal as this seemingly is, what is most surprising is that the AP has been a steadfast ally of the administration, neglecting long established common guidelines for non partisan reporting all along the way. Freedom of the Press?

The investigation into the abuses of power with respect to the IRS is just beginning, and with the IRS scheduled to play such a significant role in Obamacare, the results will be critically important.  There are many facts yet to be learned.

But the arrogance of this administration, embolden by a criminally complicit media, know no bounds.  Even so, the rule of law and adherence to the Constitution most are sworn to protect must be upheld.  As the administration has knowingly violated this trust in blatant violation and disregard of the Constitution, the appropriate penalties must be assessed.

We have previously called for the impeachment of Barack Obama, but as was the appropriate case with Richard Nixon, it certainly appears it is again the case with Barack Obama.  While Nixon was not a statesman to be sure, he did resign.  I seriously doubt Obama has the respect for the country and our founding principles to put them ahead of his own personal stature, so if it is warranted, he will have to be forced out.

It is time. Let the action commence.
