Social Justice Slow Creep
"College board president behind SAT 'adversity score' was also the mastermind of the controversial K-12 'Common Core' curriculum changes that has children just learning for a test. David Coleman, president of The College Board, which administers the SAT, was the 'architect of Common Core' – controversial K-12 curriculum standards." --Valerie Bauman
Common Core is much more about control of the citizenry that building a more productive public school system. It is the federal takeover of the education system, providing the basis for indoctrination of our youngsters. While robbing children of their free agency, it boxes them in and is prohibitive to critical thinking.
"This is not leveling the playing field. This is a savior complex. This is identity politics," Campus Reform's editor-in-chief said. "The fact that they think they can judge people based on where they come from, the color of their skin, and what they went through, I think is insulting. It's essentially saying, people who come from those backgrounds, people like me, cannot make it and I think we warned America that this was going to happen and no one paid attention."---Lawrence Jones
"The move is an attempt to do away with differences in test scores that result from disparities in wealth and education and preempts a ruling from the Supreme Court on race-based affirmative action," with a described purpose "to get to race without using race.”
So the action is racist!
“If I am going to make room for more of the [poor and minority] students we want to admit and I have a finite number of spaces, then someone has to suffer and that will be privileged kids on the bubble,” John Barnhill, assistant vice president for academic affairs at Florida State University, told The WSJ." He said he expects pushback from parents whose children go to well-to-do high schools as well as guidance counselors there.
I will skip entertaining VP Barnhill; I will be contacting President Thrasher.
As an alumnus of Florida State University, I find it unacceptable that the admissions process is tainted by intellectual elites who seek opportunities to experiment in social engineering and champion political agendas rather than rewarding hard work and accomplishment of students.

The Case For Cruz
BAHL Revere will be casting a ballot on March 15 in Florida for Senator Ted Cruz of Texas for President of the United States of America.
To take a step back, the wide field for the GOP was a collection of outstanding individuals for consideration, with each and every one of them far superior to anyone the Democrats have running or thinking of running.
While a couple of them had no hope, some had stellar backgrounds and compelling visions for the future of America.
Rick Perry and Scott Walker were very accomplished men who for whatever reason were eliminated early on. Both were outstanding, conservative governors.
Bobby Jindal has always impressed, but although he came out swinging, he never got any hits.
Sen. Rand Paul we hold in very high regard, but he got off kilter in many of the debates and did not in our estimation adequately address the terror issue, which sadly became a top discussion point in the aftermath of terrorist activity.
Carly Fiorina was tremendous, calling out folks and speaking with eloquent and intellectual precision, but she never could keep hold of gains she would make. If it were up to me, I would find something for her to do in the next administration.
The time has passed for Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, although Santorum does have keen insight on the Islamic situation, which could benefit the next president.
Chris Christie is a very smart guy and quite capable. But over time, we have learned of his progressive leanings and we cannot get past his embrace, seemingly for political purposes, of President Obama in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Brokeback Boardwalk we found appalling.
As governor of Florida, we had absolutely no complaints with the performance of Jeb Bush. But Bush is now an open border man, spearheaded common core and thinks we need to move away from the Reagan years. He must have lost his ever loving mind. Thanks, but no thanks.
We have never really embraced John Kasich, who we consider a conservative Democrat. Had he switched parties, he may well be our next President. He is a fan of Common Core and thinks government can pick winners and losers, which I abhor.
Dr. Ben Carson is a brilliant mind and a wonderful person, and would be dealing with healthcare issues in the next administration if it were up to me. But we never saw him as "the man" this go around.
That leaves Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.
Marco Rubio got our vote for Senate in Florida, where he campaigned as a Tea Party guy. We elected him to go stop Obama. Next thing we know, Rubio has team with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R:SC) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D:NY) to craft an immigration policy which allows forms of amnesty. In addition, Rubio cast the sixtieth vote on the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), which we consider an attack on American sovereignty. Therefore, of the remaining three, he gets our bronze.
Donald Trump is an individual I have always liked over the years, and love his book "The Art of the Deal." In 2011, we asked Trump to run as a Democrat to derail Hillary, as Trump himself said he has always thought of himself as more of a Democrat. Trump is scoring big on the issue of the border, and is also against the TPP, which no doubt helped him get the endorsement of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R:AL), one of our favorites.
We have been very disappointed with the demeanor carried by Trump during the campaign. Trump does not take criticism lightly and appears to have an enemies list of those who he considers an opponent, which we do not condone. Trump appears to not have a deep understanding of the Constitution, and seems uninterested with the constraints of placed on government within the document. He recently said he supports the healthcare mandate, which we deem unconstitutional.
The list of people who despise the candidacy of Trump includes many of our favorite folks, inclusive of Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Sen. Ben Sasse (R:NE), Dana Loesch, Andrew McCarthy, Dr. Thomas Sowell and David Barton to name a few.
Other folks we like are backing Trump, inclusive of Sen. Sessions, are Sarah Palin, Michael Savage, Eric Bolling and Steve Forbes.
Trump will get things done, and we consider him perhaps the Grey Champion described in work of Strauss and Howe in their "The Fourth Turning" book. As described by Jim Quinn of The Burning Platform, the Grey Champion "doesn't necessarily have to be a good person, but they must lead and display tremendous confidence in their cause and path." As America enters the period of a Fourth Turning, the arrival of a Grey Champion is a must, and he will come. Is he here?
While Trump is intriguing, a breath of fresh air and someone ready to place a well deserved kick in the ass to not only the GOP establishment but the entire ruling class, he exhibits too many liabilities to garner my support in the primary.
That leaves Sen. Ted Cruz.
In the last several weeks, the Cruz campaign has lapsed, having been taken off message and blindsided by some decisions made by staff members. Cruz is in the weeds trading insults with Rubio and Trump and the news media. Just this Sunday on FOX News, Cruz appropriately called out Chris Wallace, but when given the opportunity to knock him out with truth, failed to do so.
Cruz needs to get back to his original message, which empowers the individual, limits government, forces financial sanity and returns our nation the the friendly confines of the Constitution.
Much is made that Cruz is not well liked, but we view that as a positive. My vote is not sending him to Washington to get along with and do deals with progressives and socialist whose objective is to transform, if not ruin, the country as founded.
I know which politicians have been fighting Obama every step of the way, and Cruz leads that brigade. Cruz is a principled man with great respect for our founding who is country first, recognizing the expansive opportunities available in an America which champions liberty and freedom.
A major divide in the GOP is forming, and good people are getting in unnecessary scraps. All of the blame can be placed on the GOP establishment, who have become one with the ruling class and have rejected the will of the governed.
While my ballot will be cast for Cruz, I fear it is too late with the Trump train having already left the station and I am quite certain Trump will win Florida easily.
Should Trump become the eventual nominee, while I have reservations beyond those documented above, I will support him against Hillary Clinton, who could never secure my vote, Micheal Bloomberg, who could never secure my vote, or a GOP establishment candidate (Mitt Romney?)should the GOP start playing games down the road.
America is over with the games, and that is why, in large measure, Trump is on his way to a landslide win, not only in the primary, but in November as well.
I think the Grey Champion is here.

GOP Debate Update
The main event GOP presidential candidates debate took place in Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH, and it did not disappoint; highlighting the fine field of top candidates there are to choose from.
The under-card GOP debate winner was Carly Fiorina, who continues to impress, exhibiting broad knowledge of the issues. Particularly astute of her was to note the movement of money within the global financial system. Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum and Rick Perry round out our final four first round performance, although it would seem Perry was in need of a stronger performance to leave his misfortunes in 2012 behind him.
The main event featured a very impressive field. For the GOP debate on this evening, Dr. Ben Carson was the winner. Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee round out the final four in first round performance.
Jeb Bush seemed to get caught in a lie on the issue of Common Core, but otherwise did no harm. John Kasich looked good to the viewers and Scott Walker was steady as she goes successfully navigating away from any potentially rough seas.
Nobody blew up, but it appears Rand Paul and Donald Trump failed to gain any ground while others did.
Chris Christie and Rand Paul got in quite a dust up over surveillance. Each candidate has a long list of support for their position, and while I am on the opposite side of many folks I generally am in agreement with, including of note Kimberly Guilfoyle, I stand with Rand Paul on this topic.
FOX News was horrible and clearly aimed to diminish Trump. Megan Kelly, whom I generally think highly of, was way off base in some questioning of Donald Trump and she seems to be paying quite a price for her odd and suspicious line of questioning of Trump. Among those who are hammering her is The Great One, Mark Levin.
It should be clearly noted that these GOP debates were inclusive of some very fine candidates, each having a long list of impressive credentials, and any candidate on the either stage on this opening evening of debates would be far superior to anyone the Democrats have to offer.

GOP Lost Land of Lincoln
Although the GOP collected landslide victories in 2010 and 2014, the executive branch is slapping the legislative branch silly. The country solidly believes we are on the wrong track, yet not only are the GOP feeble in stopping Obama, they are working with him. It is Animal Farm coming to life.
Immigration, Obamacare, TPP, gun control, gay marriage, Common Core, you name it, they have no strategy or leadership plan to diminish in scope, much less defeat, any of Obama's transformative ambitions.
I have not heard any real substantive push back while Obama falls over himself to foster a deal with the champion of dishonest nations, Iran, and have not read a credible GOP plan for stopping ISIS.
"In a single week we have seen the Congress surrender its legislative authority through fast-track, we have seen the Court rewrite the dictionary to protect Obamacare, and we have seen unelected judges rewrite the Constitution in order to impose the will of five on 300 million" said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R:AL.
It is beyond comprehension. Nobody can be completely sold on the idea the GOP is this inept, so we are only left to conclude, that outside of perhaps about 25 of them, inclusive of Sen. Sessions, the GOP is quite comfortable with the wreckless, anti-American actions of our President.
The GOP has perished, with no more political battles pretend to lose while clandestinely supporting. The land of Lincoln, and the party perhaps our greatest president helped form, has been lost, defeated seemingly without a fight.
Moving forward, for whatever it is sadly worth, we will be ejecting from the broken system and voting accordingly.

Rubio Rising
Marco Rubio Photo/Getty Images |
While Rubio possesses a boatload of the attributes most would consider presidential, most thought he would wait a few cycles to get in the race. However, although the field is expected to be strong, inclusive of mentor Jeb Bush, Rubio concluded the time is now.
Having watched Marco Rubio rise in the Florida House, combined with his most compelling history and appreciation for the risk and reward component of free market capitalism, I strongly supported Rubio as he battled the unprincipled Charlie Crist to become my Senator from Florida.
While Rubio has most impressive in many ways during his senate tenure, his entrance in the immigration debate, an issue for which is recognized Rubio has great passion, joining with the gang of eight to arrive at a bill of compromise that seemingly violated the principles we entrusted him to protect. I consider this Rubio's choice in this area of legislation one which Rubio will have to fight to overcome, but according to a report, Rubio may have reasoning that could be deemed somewhat credible.
Unlike Hillary Clinton, the presumed Democratic opponent, Rubio is a real person, a family man who embraces the history and traditions of America, from the Constitution to NFL football. Rubio is a big fan of the Miami Dolphins, with his wife Jeanette a former cheerleader for the Fins.
Rubio should not be discounted. Although Jeb Bush is a very capable and smart guy, perhaps the best of the Bush family, America seems to want to stay out of the Bushes and due to progressive positions inclusive of but not limited to Common Core, conservatives are most weary of Bush as well. Therefore, Rubio can not only win Florida from Bush, but also the nation.
It seems Rubio will have to beat Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and potentially Scott Walker for the nomination. On the campaign trail, few will be able to match Rubio with his youthful exuberance and passion, high level command of the Constitutional principles our governance should be adhering to and his extremely compelling personal story. Add in his Cuban heritage, he has the chance to secure a large portion of the minority vote.
Contrary to media assessments and the propaganda released from the Democrats, the GOP is blessed to have three candidates in Cruz, Paul and Rubio to choose from. I look forward to vigorous and respectful debate from this group, and other potential candidates who step forward, in the upcoming months.

Tiny Travelers of Both Time and Space
You talk about music education!
As reported by DailyDot.com, the Louisville Leopard Percussionists were virtually without peers!
These young students perform three Led Zeppelin tunes on vibraphones; a mind boggling exhibition you simply have to hear.
The performance drew cheers from none other than famed Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page on his Facebook page; deservedly so.
This music class, yet to be affected by the governmental constraints of Common Core, is no doubt led by a teacher engulfed with innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and a can do attitude, which as you can see at the end of the performance, translated beautifully to the performing children.
Put simply, this was masterful, and I was beyond impressed.
A future as wide as the ocean no doubt awaits these tiny travelers of both time and space. God Speed!

Under Control
Another presentation of excellence from Michael Ramirez of Investors.com.
64% of Americans think things in America are out of control. They are right.
However, things are under control for President Obama.
Obama did run guns, seemingly in hopes of an event which would sway the American public opinion with respect to the second amendment. Can you think of any logical reasoning to arm those engaging in conflict with our border patrol agents on the southern border?
Richard Nixon dreamed of targeting political enemies, and had articles of impeachment filed for attempting to use the IRS to do so. Obama did utilize the IRS to target, not only individual political opponents, but political groups and non profits political organizations across America. In the aftermath, the administration has dodged and deflected Congressional inquires all the way home. These are impeachable offenses.
Perhaps the most despicable actions of the Obama administration, completely inclusive of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was the actions undertaken in Benghazi. As if sacrificing patriots charged in the defense of our nation is not deplorable enough, both President Obama and Sec. Clinton lied to the American people, and the families of the fallen, about their deaths, floating propaganda about a video causing all the disturbance leading to the death causing conflict. It was gun running.
Obamacare is nothing short of a governmental takeover of private industry. Democrat operatives have spoken aloud, even if ignored by the mainstream media, that the objective is to put private insurance companies out of business. And no, you cannot keep your doctor and no, your premiums are not decreasing. It was, and is, all a lie, right down to the death panels.
The border rush of all those youngsters on tricycles entering our nation through the southern border was not a 21st century rebirth of the gumball rally. No, it was a vehicle in the effort to transfer the wealth to those in nations the United States supposedly oppressed as we built our prosperity through free market enterprise and entrepreneur ship.
An opponent of our allies and a friend to our enemies, the release of five of the worst terrorists we held captive for a servicemen who by most accounting went AWOL is beyond criminal. Listening to Private Bergdahl's father speak in code to our opponents, an orchestrated slap in the face to America by Obama, was really hard to swallow. This is high treason. Of course, if you have been following along, Obama is not on the same team as Uncle Sam, and I, are on.
Those charged in protecting the President are repeatedly dropping the ball. Obama is a very bad guy, but we cannot have his security fail resulting in his injury or death. In this country, we remove tyrants through a the legal process. Keep in mind the enemies in foreign lands are really his friends, even Medvedev.
Ramirez ran out of room.
In addition, never in history has the government in this country so aggressively sought the observance of the citizenry as those under the command of Obama. From the usage of the IRS to Common Core, it is so out of control the battle between dystopian authors George Orwell and Aldous Huxley over who was right is in vogue. I'll go with Huxley, by the way.
You think Obama thinks he is losing grip by all the above items cited as out of control. Yet Obama is an anti-colonialist, an opponent of the west and free markets. Obama is working, very effectively, to give them the wealth, them being those who the United States supposedly oppressed to achieve our wealth.
None of the above referenced items would have gone the way they did if you were in charge. Think about it.
Obama is not lacking in intelligence, or arrogance, and he has got things in complete control, as least as far as he see it.
The transformation of The United States of America. Indeed, Obama has it under control.

Core of Destruction
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.--Abraham Lincoln.
America is under attack from within.
As often as we have including that wording in one of our blog posts, it has the feel of some kind of catch phrase. Be advised it is not. By design, no doubt strongly enhanced by the Cloward-Piven Strategy, the tentacles of attack are so numerous you would think you were in battle with an octopus.
The avenue of approach employed by the Obama administration and their progressive partners, inclusive of more than a handful of GOP members, on each tentacle, has the sting of a Man of War.
Fitting we mention the word war, as it is becoming apparent America is in a form of Civil War, only it is on the battlefield of ideology rather than dodging bullets on a vast parcel in western Kentucky.
Each of the avenues of attack are uniquely dangerous, and as Obama planned, transformative.
Perhaps the most destructive is attack is one currently target bombing our education curriculum in the public school system. This initiative is supported by heavy hitting Republicans and Democrats, inclusive of Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush from the GOP to Bill Gates, Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers, former Intel CEO Craig Barrett and companies such as State Farm Insurance and Exxon-Mobil.
We did an extensive blog post, A Real Rotten Core, a year ago outlining how dangerous to our freedom and liberty the initiative is. The Common Core Standards seek to transform the system of teaching. The basis presented to the public establishing the need for the new standards center on the ability to streamline educational efforts, standardizing curriculum standards across the nation and to give our students help in competing with students around the world enabling them a more prosperous future in competing in the global economy.
Cloaked inside that reasonable objective is extensive data mining of our children, which as presented is an invasion of privacy and in violation of the fourth amendment. Common Core places student in a box, limiting their potential to advance beyond the scope of the designed curriculum, emphasizing globalism and social justice over individualism and free market capitalism.
At the core, pun intended, Common Core is much more about control of the citizenry and indoctrination of our youth than it is about building a more productive public school system.
In an article at The Corner, Stanley Kurtz examines a quiet but devastatingly effective effort to replace the teaching of traditional American history in our high schools with a new, centrally-controlled, and sharply left-leaning curriculum. As Kurtz, whose reputation is concrete solid, reports, The College Board, who issues the SAT and various AP exams, has created elaborate new framework for he AP US History Exam, will effectively force nearly all American high schools, public and private, to transform the was they teach US History.
I got a news flash for you. These folks are charter members of the blame America first crowd, thinking, like our President, that American prosperity was ill gotten through thievery and oppression. Social justice, fairness and equality will the emphasis, contrary to the foundations and principles of our Constitutional Republic.
Think your child can sideswipe the changes? False. Prospective college students will be required to satisfactorily pass the SAT, which will be heavily based on the new framework. Indoctrination.
Many states, risking the loss of heavy governmental funding, are backtracking from accepting the Common Core standards. If the public really knew the nuts and bolts of Common Core, it would overwhelmingly be rejected. Same with the US History framework Kurtz has warned us about.
This Tuesday, July 22, presents a golden opportunity for you to become more knowledgeable on this subject, and physically participate in helping defeat it. Glenn Beck will assemble a cast of interested parties, pro and con, for a lengthy interactive experience live from his studios in Las Colinas, Texas.
As Beck puts it, WE WILL NOT CONFORM is a chance for anyone who’s tired of sitting idly by as the federal government continues its takeover of our schools to come together and do something about it. Among the parties scheduled to participate are David Barton of WallBuilders, FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe and Michelle Malkin, who has been leading the charge in opposition of Common Core.
Common Core can be defeated, but we need all hands on deck. While it has supporters on both sides, it also has opponents on both sides. Therefore, this provides an opportunity to find common ground with those who we are normally at odds with, which is integral in reversing the downward spiral our country is in.
Please make time to find a theater presentation in your neck of the woods and join us in fighting those who seek to limit our freedom and liberty. WE WILL NOT CONFORM!

A Trap of Indoctrination
Immediately following a brief PTSA meeting tonight, it was meet the teachers.
However, in our first classroom, after some announcements, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner and the reciting of The Pledge of Allegiance, we were treated to the following propaganda video singing the supposed virtues of the Common Core State Standards.
Perhaps you saw in your school, but if not, take a listen.
Interestingly enough, not that it was expected, there was no mention of data mining or any other of the evil lurking inside.
Since this was presented in the classrooms of teachers, detailed questions regarding the Common Core Standards were not able to asked. Even if asked, the teachers were not at liberty to offer any further information than the generalities we already know.
For legitimate inquiry and questioning regarding Common Core, one needs to attend the local school board. But be forewarned; the school board will not appreciate your questioning of their authority.
An example of this is a video all Americans need to see.
A father seeks to question a local school board in a Baltimore suburb regarding Common Core, an education curriculum with hidden tentacles which is being currently being implemented in some 45 states.
Wait until you see the treatment he received:
Common Core, which we labeled as being rotten earlier this year, is an evil effort to ultimately control many aspects of the future for your children; a trap of indoctrination.
As you can see from the video, school officials across the country are not taking kindly to the citizens questioning aspects of the plan and the the objectives found within, which is inclusive of data mining.
It is extremely alarming that a parent was forcibly removed and arrested for questioning Common Core. Since when are questions illegal? We The People are being silenced. This encroachment of our freedom cannot be allowed.
Please be advised; in all and every legally permissible way, I will not comply.

Distracted Public Should Find Way Back
It is televisions most important night. Who could care?
Although there are a handful of decent folks among the acting community, many are absorbed with self adulation, considering themselves above working America. As we consider the influence the attempt to place over the adoring public, we can look no further than their blindful slobbering love affair with our president.
Sheltered from the dreadful realities of the current economic status of our nation and oblivious to the restrictions in freedom actively being placed on the citizenry, the acting community plays a role in the promotion of the ruling class in through propaganda. The low information voting block are those who can be influenced by those who they see as the Hollywood elite, those of fame and fortune.
This is why President Obama has sought the utilization of Hollywood, the National Baseketball Association and the National Football League in efforts to promote Obamacare, gun control and Common Core. The objective is to feed the consumers propaganda on these issues where the degree of difficulty for the average citizen to decipher the real story exponentially grows.
Please see the following which Aldous Huxley wrote in Brave New World Revisited:
In regard to propaganda the early advocates of universal literacy and a free press envisaged only two possibilities: the propaganda might be true, or the propaganda might be false. They did not foresee what in fact has happened, above all in our Western capitalist democracies – the development of a vast mass communications industry, concerned in the main neither with the true nor the false, but with the unreal, the more or less totally irrelevant. In a word, they failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.
Only the vigilant can maintain their liberties, and only those who are constantly and intelligently on the spot can hope to govern themselves effectively by democratic procedures. A society, most of whose members spend a great part of their time, not on the spot, not here and now and in their calculable future, but somewhere else, in the irrelevant other worlds of sport and soap opera, of mythology and metaphysical fantasy, will find it hard to resist the encroachments of those would manipulate and control it.”
There certainly is nothing wrong with enjoying the entertainment options available, and like most everyone else, I have my favorites. It is football season.
But our country is in peril, and it is time that along with consuming your favorite hobbies and guilty pleasures, time must be allocated to understand, as Huxley said, the encroachment on your liberty by those who wish to manipulate and control it.
A storm is coming, It is time to fix our seat on the foundations and principles we hold true; our port in the storm. Hear that voice again. Find your way back to what is dear to you; your friends, family and loved ones; and your country.
Find your way back!

A Real Rotten Core
Early in June, The Central Florida Education Summit, hosted by the Central Florida Partnership and
sponsored by the Orlando Regional REALTOR Association, took place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport focusing on the implementation of Common Core State Standards in Florida's K-12 Education System.
The Central Florida Partnership, an organization backed by heavy political and business leaders in greater Orlando from both sides of the political aisle, join an astonishing number of their counterparts across the country in seemingly blinded support of this rather deceiving and cruel initiative.
Nationally, the Common Core Standards, which have been adopted by 45 states, are supported by The Obama administration, former Florida Governor and potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush, the National Parent Teacher Association, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mike Huckabee and the National Education Association, who have previously informed us their goals center around their power and NOT the children.
While Common Core is a brainchild of the Progressive movement, many Conservative individuals and groups have backed the initiative. The National Review came out in favor of Common Core, and in an educational presentation of the evidence, Glenn Beck of The Blaze offered a rebuttal of note.
Companies including Microsoft, General Electric, Intel, Boeing, Aetna and State Farm Insurance are on board in full support. Exxon-Mobil, who run a petroleum company under harsh scrutiny from the Obama administration, are proud supporters who felt compelled to venture outside of their corporate initiatives entering in educational advocacy and through purchasing expensive ad time for a thirty second national ad, which you can see HERE.
Although the Common Core Standards are not federally mandated, the federal government strongly encourages participation. For those states that refrain from participation, the federal government will offer financially layered incentives and support in effort to provide entitlements masking as assistance. Ultimately, the federal government can and will withhold financial grants, aid and program assistance should a state opt out of the initiative. We have seen the same tactics manifest themselves with regard to Obamacare.
The advertised goal from the implementation of the Common Core Standards centers around placing common standards aiming to make curriculum standards consistent across the nation aligning the standards and measuring student achievement while measuring and holding accountable teachers and schools. Well, that does not sound so bad. After all, we want our students nationally to excel.
Certain states have been documented as routinely failing to meet the standards demanded by the citizenry as noted by The Fordham Institute, who has received sizable grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the implementation of the Common Core Standards will likely force improvement in these states. However, will states currently highly achieving is this arena experience regression to the mean and have their accomplishments decrease?
As noted in an article in the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida Education Commissioner Tony Bennett said the 2013-14 school year will be “the year of Common Core” in Florida public schools, as the new standards make their way into classrooms at every grade level.
An article in the Tallahassee Democrat outlined differences in the currently implemented standards versus those of Common Core, which you can reference HERE.
I found the high school example particularly illustrative, which is reprinted below:
High School Math:
Common Core: Recognize and explain the concepts of conditional probability and independence in everyday language and everyday situations. For example, compare the chance of having lung cancer if you are a smoker with the chance of being a smoker if you have lung cancer.
Sunshine State: Determine probabilities of independent events. Understand and use the concept of conditional probability, including: understanding how conditioning affects the probability of events and finding conditional probabilities from a two-way frequency table.
The Common Core example astutely recognizes the statistical probabilities that exist and draw conclusions from the data sample that hold sizable merit and would be noted as reasonably correct. The Sunshine State example also examines those same statistical inferences and recognizes the findings as reasonably accurate. However, the Sunshine State is not limited in scope by inference that the probabilities outlined in the data are mutually inclusive. The Sunshine State allows for critical thinking, where opportunities to examine less probable chances and outcomes are possible. Independent events, not necessarily tied together, occur, as evidenced by the number of citizens who have been diagnosed with lung cancer who have never smoked. The chances of finding a cure will be strongly enhanced by the educational opportunities that exist in the Sunshine State example rather than the reasonably correct interpretations found from the boxed in and limited Common Core example.
It can argued Common Core Standards provide a sound educational platform from which to operate, one that will assist lower performances to reach higher levels. That sounds good when you say it fast, but in a brilliant piece presented last week, the impact of the Common Core Standards being implemented in The National Football League is examined. It is not good.
While the academic side of the Common Core Standards is concerning, a much more troubling aspect has been discovered centering around data mining. This is big in the news right now, with the NSA spying on American Citizens through phone, cable and internet properties seemingly in violation of privacy rights of the citizenry.
If you are just learning of Common Core during this read, please be advised you are way behind the eight ball in your educational efforts. Michelle Malkin has written extensively on Common Core, and has presented very troubling information regarding data mining. Glenn Beck also covered the topic in great detail.
However, a real world example of how far along the government is in the implementation of Common Core is noted in the following news story. In Polk County Florida, which nestled between the Tampa and Orlando markets, without parental notification, local school officials conducted illegal iris scans on students. This program, labeled eyeswipe-nano, is a clear violation of the privacy rights of the children and their parents as outlined in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.
It should be noted the lawmakers currently in charge do not respect the Constitution, the rights of the citizenry and the law of the land. Therefore, we must conclude they are dishonest brokers who cannot be held in a position of trust, particularly when it comes to the education of our children.
A link to a governmental site outlining the data mining techniques to be utilized, inclusive of arm bracelets, iris scans and seating able to measure body heat and movement, has been taken down. However, I did read it in its entirety and can completely understand why it was taken down, as you would join me in being beyond alarmed if you read it. Thankfully, Glenn Beck to the rescue. Beck has an entire program dedicated to Common Core, where he actually shows you the pages which outline this material. See the following:
The Common Core Standards place the curriculum in a box, curtailing efforts to advance beyond the scope of the designed curriculum. By the way, who is setting the curriculum? Perhaps those old members of the blame America first crowd? An example of the curriculum in the literary arts is rather than classic literature an examination of executive orders, including one regarding strengthening federal environmental energy and transportation management, indoctrination right our of the UN Agenda 21 doctrine progressives seek to implement. Sticking with the UN theme, Common Core emphasizes globalism, eliminating Americanism by removing value language. Free market capitalism and entrepreneurship shifts to social justice, respect and fairness. When learning of influential people in American history are children taught about Barack Obama, George Bernard Shaw, Margaret Sanger, and Doleres Huerta or Barry Goldwater, George Patton, Arnold Palmer, Billy Graham and Vince Lombardi?
While many are useful idiots who remain unaware of the evil nature of these standards, many supporters know exactly what the real reasons behind the effort are. At the aforementioned summit, Orlando Regional REALTOR Association Chairman Steve Merchant offered "School quality is a powerful driver of property values, so anyone who owns property — or is considering purchasing property — in a community should have a strong economic interest in having good schools,” said Merchant. "Studies have consistently shown that properties near schools with higher ratings are far more likely to have higher values than those near schools with lower ratings often.” Higher rated schools do positively impact property values, but under Common Core, the goal would be for all schools to score equally, thereby negating those higher values and eliminating incentives for under performing school districts to make effort to improve. I will go with useful idiot on this one.
Similar to Obamacare, Common Core is much more about control of the citizenry that building a more productive public school system. It is the federal takeover of the education system, providing the basis for indoctrination of our youngsters. While robbing children of their free agency, it boxes them in and is prohibitive to critical thinking.
It is the same as the federal takeover of the health care industry, similar to the deep governmental intervention and control of the financial markets and environmental standards, which in short can be defined as the best practices of socialism.
