So Long 41


















George H. W. Bush was a fine man, the definition of a "statesman" and the type of individual we so desperately miss in the political landscape today. Bush 41 was an extremely decorated individual, laying a strong foundation for him to eventually lead our nation.

His performance as president had some very high moments, especially during his leadership during the Gulf War.  At home, he went against his word and raider taxes, which was not received well from a most of his base, especially us Reaganites.  Overall, 41 was slightly above average as president.

However, his strength in character was something that can and will have lasting value. We will certainly miss George H.W. Bush, and his compassion, patriotic spirit and eagerness to better his fellow man are attributes we hope other will embrace and carry on to future generations.

The Candidates Debate

It sure was an interesting GOP debate the other evening in South Carolina.

After an initial coming together to express condolences over the tragic passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (perhaps the worst day for freedom loving Americans since Obamacare was passed), things got rather dicey quickly.

This was to be expected, as South Carolina has in recent cycles been where the gloves come off, and winners and loser are separated.

However, it was particularly ugly on Saturday night, with the majority of the altercations coming, not from those initially attacking front runner Donald Trump, but Trump attacking & his challengers.

Trump labeled Cruz nasty and "the single biggest liar, a real nasty guy who does not get along with any of his colleagues. In a news conference today, Trump essentially went scorched earth on Cruz.

"Ted Cruz is a totally unstable individual. He is the single biggest liar I’ve ever come across, in politics or otherwise, and I have seen some of the best of them. His statements are totally untrue and completely outrageous. It is hard to believe a person who proclaims to be a Christian could be so dishonest and lie so much".

Trump is feeling heat from Cruz, and unleashed a major attack, however, the Donald was sadly incorrect in his assertions.

I am not seeking a candidate who gets along with Congressional members who are complicit in the destruction of our nation.  Cruz called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar on the Senate floor, and Cruz was correct in doing so in my opinion.

Given what CNN reported publicly, Cruz is also correct in the dispute with Ben Carson Trump references. CNN is not a sound news organization,  which Cruz's team should have known, but with the information out, it was not only appropriate, but a responsible and smart course of action to inform voters.  If anyone is to blame, it is Ben Carson for not making his plans known to his supporters to prevent any misconceptions.

And for the record, Cruz is also correct in his ongoing spat with Marco Rubio on immigration.

Then Trump really got going.
 
First, Jeb Bush has a much more favorable assessment of his family than most do.  Most folks think the Bush family are good people, and I certainly do.

As a Floridian, it is my opinion Jeb Bush, whom I voted for, did a great job as governor of the Sunshine State.  I gleefully voted for Bush 41 in 1988 but found his performance weak, but supported him again in 1992 against Bill Clinton.  I enthusiastically supported Bush 43 in 2000 and in 2004, and while I still consider his presidency successful and know he was far superior to his Democrat challengers, the more time went on the more disappointed I became with his administration.  However, my disagreements with 43 are minimal and my admiration for him (particularly as a man of class and honor) is strong.  It would be difficult for anyone to no consider the Bush family as a great principled family who care deeply for the United States of America.

But Trump got loose, calling not only the war with Iraq a mistake, but called George W. Bush a liar, commenting that Bush and his team had lied about weapons of mass destruction while saying under 43 "we were not safe".

After being attacked on 9-11, George W. Bush did in fact keep us safe.  Many can question the steps he took to make that happen, but we were not attacked again on our soil during his administration, unlike the Obama administration.  Argue about the Patriot Act if you please, and I will join you, but to say that Bush did not succeed in keeping America safe while prosecuting a global war on terror war is false.

As far as concluding Bush lied about the weapons of mass destruction being in Iraq, I vehemently challenge that statement as false. There were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and they were moved to Syria and are there as we speak. As I noted in a post in December of 2012:

"No longer politically expedient to admonish George W. Bush for going to war with Iraq on false assumptions of the existence of these weapons, it should come as no surprise that stories shining light on the weapons transfer from Iraq to Syria are emerging in frequency. While many reports are discussing recently discovered pathways of weapon movement from Iraq to Syria, hidden behind the discussion is the transfer during the postponement of the invasion of Iraq that France President Jacque Chirac, a dishonest broker who worked against US interests, bought. The second to none editorial page of Investors Business Daily leads the way as usual in presenting and detailing the truth. IBD, in an editorial yesterday, continues to present the facts even if few Americans are willing to absorb it".

I have always personally liked Donald Trump and admired much of his business accomplishment and while he is not my first choice for the GOP nomination, unlike many, I had felt comfortable in supporting him should he win the nomination.

I am now questioning that assessment.

Donald Trump is not an idiot, so I am sure his attacks are based on some level of methodology. However, defeating opponents on merit and on the battlefield of ideas has often been superior to berating with opponents with name calling, lies and threats.

America is some kind of pissed at the establishment of both parties, and Trump has a very unique opportunity before him.  However, while I may be wrong, his scorched earth ramblings in recent days may not only burn up his opponents, it may engulf his candidacy as well.

Disagree with their policies as you wish, but I conclude neither Ted Cruz nor George W. Bush (and I note that Bush is no fan of Cruz) are liars.  Trump; however, is starting to look as though he may be.

Or maybe this is just South Carolina as usual.

Trimming The Bushes

The Bush family has a long legacy in politics in this nation.

Prescott Bush was a Senator from Connecticut, which heavily influenced his son, George Herbert Walker Bush, who became the 41st President of the United States after serving eight years as Vice President under President Ronald Reagan and had perhaps the most distinguished career of any modern day politician.

George H. W. Bush's son, Jeb Bush, currently running for the GOP nomination for president in 2016, was a very successful two term governor of the state of Florida.  Of course, another son, George W. Bush, after a successful two terms as governor of the state of Texas, became the 43rd President of the United States.

Overall, while many disagree with differing policies of the each of the Bush's during their tenures of governance, generally speaking most citizens have a favorable opinion of each of the men and their family.  I fit in that category.

As a Floridian, I though Jeb Bush performed very well as governor of my state. I have overall favorable of the presidencies of both 41 and 43, while I would not consider either among the top presidents in our history.  I am not supporting Jeb in 2016 for the GOP nomination.

The Bush family usually stays above the fray of political for the most part.  George W. Bush has had not one word of criticism of Barack Obama, who seemingly weekly blamed W for every problem he encountered.

But, sadly, over time, the Bush family has felt compelled to bash other republicans.  Former First Lady Barbara Bush had spoke strongly of her distaste for Sarah Palin.  Jeb Bush discussed how the GOP should move away from the policies of Ronald Reagan.

Unlike many, while we had areas of disagreement, we have always held George W. Bush in high regard.

Therefore, from a man of decency who has declined to comment on a president leading our nation to destruction, we were puzzled on his unprompted voiced negativity regarding Sen. Ted Cruz. Glenn Beck has a theory on this, on which we place a high degree of accuracy. On the issue in question, we strongly side with Sen. Cruz, and expansion into the area of question reveals some troubling avenues of concern, inclusive of immigration.

Although I did not really recognize it at the time, both Bush presidents can be classified as progressive, where the idea of government expansion in the lives of the citizenry, something Reagan acted against, is welcomed.  In fact, given the families close relationship with Bill and Hillary Clinton, it would appear they have little problem with the US traveling the same track, just think they can do a btter jog of maneuvering the levers.

It appears, given where Jeb currently stands in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination, the progressive blueprint the Bush family has embraced to political success has been discovered by GOP primary voters and appears to be being soundly discarded.

At least we can recognize that the Bush family are good people, as evidenced by the actions of George W. Bush just today, who on this Veterans Day, visited a group of veterans who were visiting his presidential library in Dallas.

Jeb Jumps Shark on Reagan

In a recent interview, Florida Senator Marco Rubio spoke of his heartfelt admiration of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Many Floridians share Rubio's thoughts, and as a Floridian, I gleefully supported Bush as Governor. In review of the report card of his governorship, the marks are generally considered high.

Unfortunately, recent comments by Governor Bush suggest he has lost contact with the central principles of the Republican Party, and it can be argued, former President George W. Bush did as well.

However, in retrospect, it seems that real conservatives, perhaps with our eye taken off the ball due to the events of September 11, 2001, allowed our Republican leadership to move away from these principles. Far left socialists, who praise the entitlement society, big government, global wealth transfer and open borders, have high jacked the Democratic Party. Blue Dog Democrats engage this group sharing progressive ideals, but they really have no idea of the agendas of the left wing radicals they are, perhaps not knowingly for some, in bed with. Joining with the deviants of Occupy Wall Street is an example. Same holds true for moderate republicans, who embrace big government as the driving force in a successful Democracy.

Perhaps it is power driven, or a lack of faith in the American people, but for some reason, free market capitalism is abandoned in favor of governmental interaction. Unfortunately, in a low moment for sure, you recall George W. Bush abandoning the free market principles to save the free market system. Well, those actions by President Bush failed to work, and kicked the can down the road at best.

President Obama, in staggering economic idiocy, has exponentially expanded our national debt through stimulus in effort to boost the economy, but by any statistical measure, this has failed. All of it. We know Obama is an economic novice, unless you subscribe to the theory that he is intentionally collapsing the system, as I do. While we can only hope President Bush recognizes his error, listening to brother Jeb recently suggests otherwise, providing evidence that both of these men being progressives themselves. The apple does not fall far from the tree, and it was 41 who spoke of a new world order.

Jeb thinks bipartisanship is missing from the politics of today, saying "Back to my dad's time and Ronald Reagan's time — they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support," Bush added. Reagan today "would be criticized for doing the things that he did." Bush went further adding "Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad — they would have a hard time if you define the Republican Party ... as having an orthodoxy that doesn't allow for disagreement, doesn't allow for finding some common ground".

You would think Jeb would have a better understanding of the current political climate, and since I know Jeb is a smart guy, one has to wonder how, and why, he is so far off the mark.

While Reagan did find accommodation in those days, he was always in operating from a position of control, real or perceived. with honest brokers. The Gipper offered ground on policies that were not integral, or on issues that were on the periphery of the core of his policies. Reagan trusted people to keep their word, and he got burned one too many times, most notably on immigration. But Reagan was most firm on his core principles, and on those principles there was no compromise.

Quoting from Reagan's first inaugural address: "In the days ahead I will propose removing the roadblocks that have slowed our economy and reduced productivity. Steps will be taken aimed at restoring the balance between the various levels of government. Progress may be slow, measured in inches and feet, not miles, but we will progress. It is time to reawaken this industrial giant, to get government back within its means, and to lighten our punitive tax burden. And these will be our first priorities, and on these principles there will be no compromise".

In what would appear to be a news flash for Jeb, America's industrial giant is asleep, shackled by regulation and taxation. Government has never been so out of control, solar systems from within its means, pun intended. In addition, bankers are not banking, laws are selectively being enforced and the media is failing to accurately report the truth, all signs of a country in crisis. Reagan would not be finding common ground with the socialist progressives of today!

Reagan found those advancing socialism not suitable for accommodation. "Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy accommodation."

Reagan sought simple, morally right economic policies, not socialism which robs people of their identity and handicaps their future. Free market capitalism is a core principle which cannot be compromised on. While Reagan stood firm, George W Bush failed when the heat got turned up, and Jeb seems poised to assist Obama in destroying the country.

Jeb Bush is sadly mistaken in his assessment, but he is not alone thinking compromise with Democrats is the answer, even in dealing with dishonest socialist brokers. Jon Huntsman is now a left wing think tank fellow.

You and I do have a rendezvous with destiny. We need to preserve for our children the grand experiment of America, based on the bedrock principles of moral men who embrace freedom, entrepreneurship and free market capitalism, which helped nurture and grow the last best hope of man on earth.

According to Reagan, "If we lose freedom here, we will sentence our children and grandchildren to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness. If we lose freedom here, there's no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth".

Reagan said. "Well I think it's time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves."

Maybe 2012 is not a "...choice between right and left, but between up ordown, individual freedom consistent with law and order or down to the any heap of totalitarianism." Reagan would not be about compromise these days, rather leading by example lifting all boats in an expanding economic pool based upon freedom, morality and limited government.

Ronnie would be voting up in 2012, for Mitt Romney, and for America.

Inside Attack on America: Agenda 21

The American economy is extremely fragile, in large measure to seemingly wreckless actions taken by the Obama administration and the FED. Far beyond that, with tentacles any Octopus would be proud of, Uncle Sam and all our liberties are under full scale attack from within, a sinister series of actions by extremely well funded socialists masking as environmentalists, economists, clergy, higher education, health care and governmental officials, seizing your individual rights under the mask of political correctness for the benefit of the collective.

Ten years ago, I would have found myself guilty of hanging upside down in the crazy tree considering these items. But as I take note of the events currently taking place, which have been underway for decades but have accelerated under President Obama, I find our world is what is upside down and common sense has caught the last train to Clarksville.

This is the first on a series examining how particular aspects of our governance is expanding and abusing governmental authority beyond the framework of our Constitution. You may find, unknowingly, you have been cheering on the loss of your own freedom.

The focus of the first of several installments deals with an evil implementation of social justice, Agenda 21.

Developed by The United Nations, at the UN Rio Earth Summit in 1992 Agenda 21 was presented for endorsement by UN member nations "as a global plan of action for sustainable development," which aims to implement social justice through managing community development, industry, cultural and individual behavior. At the summit, President George H. W. Bush, who I voted for, signed on to Agenda 21. In 1993, President Bill Clinton, who I did not support, formed the Council For Sustained Development to Implement Agenda 21. Hence, regrettably, both parties are involved.

Although it is detailed, essentially, Agenda 21 efforts to contain the spread of development across the globe, leaving as much land as possible pristine. Further, through regulation by bureaucrats at the UN, "unsustainable" environments, development which fails to meet certain criteria, must be reversed for the global good. Four aspects of Agenda 21 are economic, natural resources, institutional and social. There is a large contingency of individuals, corporations, governmental agencies and organizations on board, and many may not recognize the nefarious ambitions at the heart of the effort. Among those behind it are George Soros, Al Gore and the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), which interacts with local governments to implement policies. You would be shocked at how successful the have been, as some 600 cities have signed on to implement policies outlined by Agenda 21.

Federal legislation under Cap and Trade was a product of Agenda 21, with Fannie Mae, reaching far outside the real estate finance arena, purchasing a trading exchange to house the system. Financing was thought to be provided by Shore Bank, a Chicago based bank which reportedly met its demise once Cap and Trade failed. Unfortunately, as President Obama typically does, the Congress was bypassed by the Obama appointed Czars, who are unaccountable to the the people, and extensive climate change regulations were implemented with the EPA utilized as the enforcing mechanism.

A recent example of the natural resource segment (toxic chemicals) of Agenda 21 would be the new extensive lead based paint regulations put forth by the EPA should property owners with homes built before 1976 wish to update your home in an effort to further the formation of a green economy. Beyond lead based paint, new expensive regulations regarding air conditioning systems, roofing, windows and doors must adhere to standards put in place to curb global warming, which of course, is a vehicle for the global transfer of wealth.

Former Washington Redskin tight end Clint Diddier, now a farmer in retirement, recently spoke with FOX News David Asman, and he is not happy about regulations on farmers in his home state, nor should he be:

Tentacles of government intrusion under Agenda 21 focus on restricting energy usage, health care opportunities, population growth and private property rights, the latter being a central cog in the formation of our country. Better stated, individual freedom is being confiscated.

Freedom Advocates houses a top notch website which thoroughly encompasses the enormity of Agenda 21, and fortunately, they are not blinded by political correctness and have a keen understanding of the evil end game, which is the loss in American sovereignty and individual rights as we join a global structure. Our Founding Fathers would be rolling in their graves to think Uncle Sam is legislating away our sovereignty over a hoax conceived to advance a governance based on the collective. Opposition to this agenda is growing, and a big recent victory came with the Republican National Committee passing an Anti-Agenda 21 resolution. But the fight is far from over.

I should have paid much more attention when George H. W. Bush discussed a new world order. At least I am awake now, and hopefully you are too. Our opponents are the same cast of characters you have come to know over the past few years, and they must be defeated. Please join the fight against those who wish to take our individual freedom and the sovereignty of our nation under the false premise of global warming, a move to the collective under a massive transfer of wealth.

Eccentric Eagleburger Exits

Lawrence Eagleberger, former Secretary of State under George H. W. Bush, has died. Most appropriately, tributes are pouring in. Former Secretary of State James A. Baker said Larry was "as good as they come."

Eagleburger was one of our favorites to be heard from on foreign policy topics, both from the standpoint of his vast experience and his frank commentary. No spin associated with Eagleburger! He ran outside the loop. Chain smoking, overweight and seemingly always dis-helved, he often appeared seemingly a lovable curmudgeon.

On all the issues of the day, if you wanted the truth, thorough analysis of the issue and the correct avenue of approach in attacking the problem, you had look no further than comments from Eagleberger.

While his experience in foreign policy was his wheelhouse, he frequently fired opinions on the surrounding political landscape. If only America had listened, Eagleberger had Obama described perfectly. Take a listen:



Yes, Larry told us so. Often. Eagleberger gave great service to this nation and I for one will aways appreciate him and will miss his pontificating with sharpened tongue his on target analysis. RIP Lawrence Eagleberger.
