Hardly Forgotten
Today marks the eighteenth anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, which has scarred America forever. While we were not defeated, far from it, without question the country has never been the same since the attacks.
A great article in Conservative Review notes the following: "The purpose of American conservatism is to conserve freedom and justice for the good and happiness of all of us. Its purpose is to defend liberty from hatred and evil that seek to destroy. That is what we must remember on September 11, and on every day. We must never forget that."
I am extremely proud to be an American. I have a clear vision of the evil who attacked us on the that horrific day and in no way shape or form have I considered forgetting.

Given the state of our nation today, in a constant battle to prove either or Aldous Huxley or George Orwell was more accurate, attacking itself and drowning in an ocean of political correctness it appears we may have already lost the battle.
The following was noted in an intriguing article presented by Ammo.com, which concludes: "Unless the United States is clear about who its enemy is and the price it is willing to pay to defeat it, we are destined for an endless war with ever-growing encroachments on American liberties. If this is the path America chooses, then there can be no doubt that we have already lost the war."
In fact, the same evil continues to threaten us to this very day. Enemies within are using the laws of freedom in our nation against us. We MUST stay vigilant, holding our principles dear as we maintain our strength and resolve to remain the powerful beacon of freedom in the world we were divinely inspired to be.
NEVER FORGET and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Evil spit in our face on the morning of September 11, 2001. As America sought comfort on this horrendous day, most found God watching over us. We had faith, which helped us through the incredible grief. With evil lurking all around us, we found love, courage and faith standing tall in the fire.

I have not forgotten. Never Forget! Political correctness be damned, we must remain committed to taking out evil wherever it exists, foreign or domestic.

The Truth Remains Elusive
Motion reveals Pulse gunman's father was FBI informant
But there is yet more.
ZeroHedge has documented the information.
As reported by Nick Short, can you imagine that Seddique Mateen had a pair of large money transfers Turkey and Afghanistan, with the second transfer having occurred one week before the attack?
Recall the CEO of Mandalay Bay was reported to have sold almost all of his holdings of stock (taking a capital gains tax hit) in his stable company a week before the shooting massacre in Las Vegas!
I am not sure what is going on, but there are significant questions surrounding almost all of the recent mass shootings. Unlike many, I am certain each of these events happened, but I do not think the public has been adequately informed of the motives and participants.
There remain questions about San Bernardino, and answers are far and few astonishingly between in Las Vegas. There were stand down orders given police in Orlando and Parkland. We call Central Florida home (and drive by Pulse almost on a daily basis), and there remain many unanswered questions about the Pulse shooting. Although the killer professed an allegiance to Islam, it has been categorized as an attack on the LGBT community (secondarily, it was, along with the Latino community) and the LGBT agenda has exponentially risen to prominence in the community since.
Without adequate answers being provided to the public, conspiracy theories will continue to be fed. Information that does trickle out like the info we got last night about the Pulse gunman's father gives additional evidence to those who think the truth in these events remains elusive.
Count me among that group.

Wake Up And Get A Clue
No doubt an indictment of our educational system as an incubator of imbecilic snowflakes, there is a large amount of folks who are so far out to lunch on international relations that they may well end up dead. And sooner than they think.
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
-Instant Karma, John Lennon
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
-Instant Karma, John Lennon
Indeed, you better get yourself together, or you might end up dead, as it is not possible to get along with folks whose top goal in life is for your conversion to their religion or your death.
As the folks at Conservative Review adequately stated in review of a Blanco editorial cartoon, these idiots had better wake up and get a clue.

Kerry, Obama Unleash Direct Betrayal of Israel
In the aftermath of the US abstention at the UN Security Council vote on a resolution slandering Israeli settlements (actually a directive from President Obama), Secretary of State John Kerry, an idiot at large who served in Vietnam, unleashed a comprehensive plan offering further destruction of the middle east while scolding Israel.
"Kerry's central conclusion, that "Israel can either be Jewish or democratic, it cannot be both" is an inanity that passes as profound only in Ivory Tower faculty lounges" offered Sen. Ted Cruz. "It is a sign of their radicalism and refusal to defend American interests, that Obama and Kerry choose to attack the only inclusive democracy in the Middle East -- a strong, steadfast ally of America -- while turning a blind eye to the Islamic terrorism that grows daily."
Kerry and Obama are opponents of America as founded, despising her and her allies all while emboldening her enemies. For me, aiding and abetting enemies of our nation is an act of Treason, Obama and Kerry should be held accountable in any and every legally permissible way.
Mark Levin: Kerry’s outrageous, deceitful speech caps off Obama’s diabolical betrayal of Israel

They All Know
We have been wondering about the whereabouts of the wife of the Orlando mass murderer Omar Mateen.
I drove by the Pulse Nightclub, the scene of the horrific, event this morning. It still hurts.
However, Orlando is picking up the pieces very nicely, and I am very proud of our community.
Although without question they were significantly impacted, there appears to be an overreach to the LGBT community. We disagree that the terrorist act was planned and plotted as an attack on the LGBT community, as we consider the event a terrorist act against The United States of America which took the lives of many of our beloved citizens, most of whom in this case, were LGBT and/or Latino.
The New York Times has located Noor Salman, and has presented a story attempting to make us sympathetic to her plight as the loved one who had no clue about the evil her husband was about to inflict.
I don't buy it for one minute.
“It’s possible she didn’t know because he was not confiding in her, but she does have every incentive in the world to retell this story as a different kind of victim,” said Mia Bloom, a professor at Georgia State University. “I am not trying to minimize the experience she had in a domestic abusive relationship, but it doesn’t give her a free pass as a bystander to not come forward.”
The "I was unaware" excuse has run it's course. They all know.
She should be considered an accomplice, and charged accordingly.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton ask the American people to have empathy for our enemies.
Christians are being killed at alarming levels, yet our president continues to call out republicans for their evil attempts to adhere to the Constitution. We have officially become a nation of men; not laws.
And we have countless enemies within. Those enemies within included our current Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Please engage your voting actions accordingly.

No Sen. Nelson!
"Remember the human factor here. Now, because they were born in another country and are here illegally, these DREAMers are going to have to return to a country they don't know along with their parents. Now, that is what is sad" said Sen. Bill Nelson, D:FL.
No Sen. Nelson!
What is sad is that I am living in a country I don't know, exhibited every day now as I drive down S. Orange Ave in Orlando, where radical Islamic terrorists murdered 49 of our fellow citizens.
Yet, you and Obama continue to let thousands of refugees ISIS said they would infiltrate into America.
Sen. Nelson, you are nothing short of despicable!
Instead of worrying about the status of illegal immigrants currently here, how going after ISIS and sealing our border to help prevent the next terrorist attack perpetrated against the legal citizens of this country?

An Evil Left Turn
Central Florida's own Lloyd Marcus accurately notes the immoral and fraudulent position the American Left has taken. The American Left is evil, and they are destroying the foundation and principles of our nation as founded.
"Summarizing the Left’s media blitz, they said if you do not affirm the LGBT community and the implementation of their agenda, you are equal to the Orlando shooter; a rabid hater, responsible for those killed in the nightclub. I wonder how many Americans are falling for it."
Too many.
Sadly, the Orlando terrorist attack is a clear and glaring example of the leftist agenda, as nobody seems interested in holding those responsible accountable (radical Islam), only in the promotion of the LGBTQ community.

Depressing and Deadly
Perhaps you just concluded watching "The Five" on Fox News Channel co-hosted by the lovely Kimberly Guilfoyle, but a depressing and deadly accurate article by Greg Gutfeld now requires your eyeballs.
"How can America defeat ISIS if we have vocal factions believing that we are worse? How can we fight the enemy if a large portion of our population thinks an inanimate object – a gun – caused Orlando?"
Damn good question.
Gutfeld: Orlando’s doom. The most depressing article you will ever share. Share it anyway by Greg Gutfeld
We will do just that!
The immediate consequences from the Orlando terror attack are obvious: dozens dead and maimed – families changed forever.
The next layer of consequences, arriving soon, are not as obvious, but they are coming. Here they are:
We are getting a divorce. First, a poll shows that Americans are pretty much divided on their opinions about the attack. Most of the Democrats see it as a gun control issue. Most Republicans see it as a terror attack. And there seems to be no sign of compromise (why can’t it be mostly “terror” and a little “guns?” asks the therapist, Dr. Gutfeld)
This poll hints at an ongoing, disturbing change in this country – one that brings forth a series of even more problems – those of which I see as almost unsolvable. We quarrel about the quarrel. We cannot agree on the fight. And therefore we cannot begin to fight. Instead, we are like that proverbial snake that devours its own tail. Except, we think it’s sushi. But it’s blowfish. You get the idea. We’re dead.
We assume different identities lead to different values. Does a black person, or a gay person or a fat white male, see a terror attack differently? I wouldn’t think so, but activists, talking heads and assorted thought-processors disagree. Now we no longer look at a tragedy as an American one, but through the divisive eyes of balkanized camps of competing identities.
An activist at the University of Missouri, during a vigil for the victims of Orlando, actually expressed disappointment that she had to speak in front of grievers, who happened by birth, to be white. My only relief comes from the fact that a few people heckled her (a brave gay couple). That relief left when others drowned them out.
The beat-down is dead. We need to train our populace on the basics of group self-defense – meaning how to cooperate and risk their skins to take down the lone aggressor.
If ten people attack a man with a gun, one or two may die – but the alternative is worse. “Be Like 93” should be the motto – in honor of the heroic actions of the passengers of Flight 93, who saved uncountable lives on September 11, 2001 by attacking the hijackers and bringing the jet down in a Pennsylvania field.
But that’s not what I’m really talking about. I mean justifiable aggression: explicitly meting out justice to those who deserve it. How can we do that, when we cannot agree who deserves it?
The New York Times blamed Republicans for Orlando. The Huffington Post blamed Christians. Every liberal blames guns, as well as the complicit wife of the murderous, terrorist dirtbag. And the dirtbag’s dad blames social networks. He’s even suing them.
The more we spread the condemnations around, the less we have for the truly guilty party. Hence our incremental approach to ISIS. President Obama treats the war on “terror” (a polite phrase for Islamism), like we’re playing Jenga. Slowly, and on rainy days.
We lose respect for evidence. Our inability to call a spade a spade is the result of divorcing cause from effect. If we can’t call Islamism out for this horribleness, then what’s left? Blame Guns. Christians. White Zinfindal. It’s as though you blame a massive wild fire not on dry tinder and a lit cigarette, but on poor self-esteem among carbon products.
Here’s science: Islamism preaches the murder of gays; then an Islamist murders a club full of gays. Cause…effect.
Why does the left deny science?
The way the media and our White House deny the effects of Islamism seems eerily similar to a certain industry we grew to loathe over time. Remember how the tobacco companies denied the role of their product in lung cancer? To deny that link, now, would have you laughed off the planet. My prediction: 20 years from now we will feel the same way about Islamism.
“Remember when we had a president who refused to admit the link between atrocity and Islamism” will be the same as “Remember when people used to say cigarettes didn’t cause cancer.”
Refusing to link Islamism to evil is denying the evidence before your objective eyes. You don’t even need to bring up Orlando. Try honor killings. Read up on the Taliban and what they do to girls who want to go to school. Google “Taliban” and “acid.”
President Obama isn’t just on the wrong side of history, he’s on the wrong side of the future. For a guy who claims to be all about science, he lives in a fairy tale.
We have murdered sympathy. A product of modern leftism’s regressive identity politics: we see victimhood as a zero-sum game. If you grieve for the victims of terror, is there any left for Black Lives Matter? If you light a candle for Orlando, why not for Ferguson?
If you aren’t gay, how are you able to sympathize with gay victims of terror?
What if you’re against gay marriage? Are you as evil as terrorists? Perhaps, some might say (or have said).
One anchor at another network actually chided a sympathizing politician, in the state where the terror took place… because she did not support gay rights enough to his satisfaction. I was bummed he’d play bouncer to the “Who gets to grieve” night club. That’s beneath him. Obama was against gay marriage just a handful of years ago, my friend.
Now sympathy is saddled with considerations for approval of other groups and classes. Maybe just keep quiet instead of expressing sympathy, one might conclude.
We have killed debate. To better enhance well-being, one must be able to argue and even allow oneself to be proven wrong. Science is all about that: prove me wrong, please. Now, no one wants to be wrong, even when it’s an abstract debate.
Look, I think the gun control debate is a deflection from the core concern, which is terror. But I’m willing to listen to some common sense, or at least informed opinions on how to prevent terrorists from getting guns. Sadly, the gun control argument is a misleading one: used not to ban guns (we know it ain’t happening), but to drive the debate away from the more volatile issue, which Islamism’s universal plans.
And! – wouldn’t it be nice to talk about gun control with people who actually knew something about guns? Or control? If Orlando had been done not by gun, but by bomb -- where would the left’s argument be? Where it was, after Boston. Nowhere.
We have disabled our impulse control. My motto has always been: your first public thought is often your worst public thought. Meaning: think before unloading.
We now know that this is an impossible wish in this current climate of Twitter, Facebook and Piers Morgan. What happened to reserve? Contemplation? Thoughtfulness? What about waiting a few days before you spout an opinion?
Now every celebrity and their less famous sibling is on Twitter lecturing us on “assault weapons” and “tolerance” as if the world right now really needs a hot take from a sitcom star on his third bout of chlamydia.
The strong and silent type has been replaced with the weak and loud. I’d include myself in this, except that I only speak when spoken to. Otherwise, I sit quietly in a corner and drink copious amounts of wine.
We no longer cooperate. This sad and sober consequence is the result of combining all the results mentioned above together. Without cooperation, society is doomed. Cooperation contributes to better lives, over all. If what’s good for you, is good for them you help them get what you have.
That’s not the case in this era of moral relativism.
The problem is: we no longer believe that what we have is good. How can America defeat ISIS if we have vocal factions believing that we are worse? How can we fight the enemy if a large portion of our population thinks an inanimate object – a gun – caused Orlando? And not this pernicious ideology you can’t even call a death cult, because radical Islam is worse than that? It’s a death movement. A death phenomenon. It’s a force that sees our conscious lives as inferior to what happens after you die. Which is why, for them, killing gays is an act of love. They’re doing those sinners a favor – in their twisted skulls, killing innocents in a night club just gave the murdered a Fast Pass to Nirvana.
Boy, this is a depressing article. And I wrote it.
Read it and weep. For the victims. For the country. For your family. For you and me.
Bravo Greg Gutfeld!

Cooper Flew the Coop
In a despicable display of partisanship, Anderson Cooper flew the coop attacking Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi about her actions opposing gay marriage in Florida.
Cooper, who is highly regarded for his journalistic integrity among the media elites and even by some on the right, including firebrand conservative Glenn Beck, is being applauded by progressives, liberals and the LGBT community for his blindside of Bondi.
I have always considered Cooper among the very best of the national mainstream media, which can no doubt be considered strongly left leaning. But I found his attack on Bondi nothing short of strongly offensive.
The LGBT community, which includes Cooper, is miffed with Bondi for her opposition of the legalization of gay marriage. Bondi was acting on behalf of the state of Florida (I am a resident of the Sunshine State) in leading the opposition, as her job having been elected dictates. As she pointed out, the majority of the residents of Florida are against the measure, as am I.
That does not in any way suggest she, or any of the other Floridians against that initiative, hate the LGBT community. We do not. We just happen to believe marriage is between a man and woman, as our Christian beliefs dictate. Certainly, the greater majority are in favor of a civil union which would allow for loved ones to have legal standing, contrary to Copper's suggestion otherwise.
Incidentally, this is a position recently held by both President Obama and Hillary Clinton until it became politically expedient to change positions, with Clinton calling it a "sacred bond" and a "bedrock principle."
At any rate, as common sense would suggest, this was not an appropriate time to address this issue with AG Bondi. Unless your manners and professionalism took a back seat to your personal agenda. They did with Cooper, and my respect for him immediately flew the coop.
Katie Hopkins had a brilliant piece over at The Daily Mail.
In a rather stunning speech Tuesday, a petulant Obama hunkered down in defense of Islam essentially blaming America for the grotesque loss of life in Orlando. Obama took a shot at Donald Trump, as did Hillary in a follow up speech.
But it is Trump who has accurately assessed the real issue, radical Islamic terrorists, and make no mistake, it is the left, led by these two anti-American elites, and their policies, that are in large measure to blame for this terrorism.
"Perhaps it is those who preach tolerance that we should be most afraid of. Democrats and liberals preach tolerance. But in doing so they have chosen to ignore the dark truths of a religion which is the most intolerant of all" noted Hopkins.
Agreed.
Cooper, and his progressive partners in the media, do not seem to have any anger whatsoever against radical Islam and the destruction that surrounds them. No, they take aim, with fervor, attacking opponents of the LGBT cause, which is dear to them.
The safety of the citizens of America, all of them, are dear to me.
If only Anderson Cooper would extend such efforts calling out those who are looking the other way as terrorists murder our citizens rather than taking this opportunity to advocate on behalf of the LGBT agenda.
Maybe he could have waited until we bury our neighbors categorized not as LGBT or Latino unless it is an agenda item for you, but as fellow Americans, before engaging AG Bondi?
Evil are these terrorists, not AG Bondi, and this was without question a terrorist attack on all of us.
When will the leftists ever learn. As Hopkins accurately notes, they may never.

Orlando Terror
Radical Islam strikes again in the SODO district in the heart of downtown Orlando.
Terrorism is alive and well contrary to media reports and the bumbling of President Obama. When will America wake up!
Is anybody paying attention?
"ISIS Announced Florida Threat THREE Days Ago: “We Will Attack Florida!”
ISIS Muslim terrorists released a statement on their plan to attack Florida, and even put out a list with the names of people in Florida that they plan on killing."
Our president refuses to identify the enemy, and is making feeble if any efforts to eliminate them. Given the failure to face this evil with adequate force, no wonder the Trump train is gaining momentum! Americans have had enough!
“Our nation is at war. From 9/11 to the Boston Marathon, from Fort Hood to Chattanooga, from San Bernardino to last night’s horrific attack in Orlando, radical Islamic terrorism has declared jihad on America.” “It is a time for action. We need a Commander in Chief who will speak the truth, and who will unleash the full force and fury of the American military to utterly destroy ISIS and its affiliates." ---Sen. Ted Cruz (R:TX)
As we expressed in previous posts, we had little doubt a terrorist act was imminent; however we had no idea it would occur in our own back yard.
We also had noted repeatedly Obama is not only the worst president ever but the first anti-American president.
Obama is literally on the other team, and Donald Trump just eluded to it, noting "He doesn't get it or he gets it better than anybody understands. It's one or the other, and either one is unacceptable." "We're led by a man who is a very -- look, we're led by a man that either is, is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind," which we consider to be the destruction of the United States of America as you have known her.
Sadly, we fear this is only the beginning of a very rough summer.
Everything you need to know about the Orlando terror attack is presented in the report from WFTV-ABC9 Orlando, with famed anchor Bob Opshal reporting.
President Obama, elected (sadly) to be OUR President, cannot bring himself to reach out to Florida Gov. Rick Scott as of this AM regarding the worst single shooting incident, an act of terrorism committed no just against the LGBT community, Latinos or Floridians, but against The United States of America. George W. Bush has done so, but not the petulant Obama. He is nothing short of a complete disgrace, and we will be most fortunate not to have many more Americans fall victim to terrorism before he exits office.
In a rather stunning speech today, a petulant Obama hunkered down in defense of Islam essentially blaming America for the grotesque loss of life in Orlando. Obama took a shot at Trump, as did Hillary in a follow up speech. But it is Trump who has accurately assessed the real issue, radical Islamic terrorists, and make no mistake, it is the left, led by these two anti-American elites, and their policies, that are in large measure to blame for this terrorism. As Katie Hopkins illustrated in a brilliant piece today, "Perhaps it is those who preach tolerance that we should be most afraid of. Democrats and liberals preach tolerance. But in doing so they have chosen to ignore the dark truths of a religion which is the most intolerant of all."
While Obama searches for a motive, The Daily Caller brings us stunning information about Orlando killer Omar Matteen. “It is no coincidence that this happened in Orlando,” a law enforcement source told Fox News Sunday." "Omar Mateen, the perpetrator of the terror attack in Orlando, was enrolled in an online Islamic fundamental course ran by a radical Muslim released from prison last year" named Marcus Dwayne Robertson, who runs a school in Orlando known as the Timbuktu Seminary. Robertson is reported to be the former bodyguard of Omar Abdel Rahman, otherwise known as the Blind Sheik, the mastermind of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.
The motive of the terrorist act in Orlando is known to everybody and anybody, except our anti-American president whose dereliction of duty is getting folks killed, which just might be considered treason.
The events of a tragic weekend in The City Beautiful will leave our town scared forever.
On Friday night, emerging star Christina Grimmie was gunned down by a crazed individual signing autographs after a show at The Plaza Live over in The Milk District. We all were very saddened.
But, the terrorism events of early Sunday morning at The Pulse over in the SODO district floored our entire nation.
We remain at war with radical Islamic terrorists whether our anti-American president is aware of it or not. It is rather obvious Obama will not take any steps to destroy ISIS, so perhaps it will come down to the citizenry.
Or Donald J. Trump.

A Player On The Other Team
As GOP presidential front runner Donald Trump accurately notes, "The terrorists are totally winning."
We found that out the hard way again today in Brussels, where an orchestrated systematic attack occurred this morning. We join Sen. Ted Cruz in lifting all those affected in prayer.
In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Brussels, Obama is having a grand time chastising America in Communist Cuba, catching a Tampa Bay Rays game. While Brussels Bleeds, Obama Does the Wave
But are we allowing their success under our anti-American president?
"Everything he [Obama] has done has supported murdering Islamists and the Caliphate. He bows to Iran and is importing an invading Islamic force into the US. The rapidly expanding number of terrorist attacks, nations targeted and civilians killed virtually guarantees that terrorism will continue set new records in the years ahead. Thanks to Obama, a number of those records will no doubt be in the US." --Terresa Monroe-Hamilton.
Agree wholeheartedly.
As evidenced, not by his rhetoric, but by his actions, which dictates it is reasonable to conclude Obama is playing for the other team. In fact, there is evidence he has been a player on the other team, The Muslim Brotherhood, right from the start.

The Enemy; Foreign and Domestic
ISIS is being utilized by those seeking an Ottoman Empire style caliphate as a cleansing mechanism.
It is very important to understand that "we can destroy ISIS tomorrow, but we will still be in an extended war with a hundred other groups who all have a vision for restoring the Caliphate. This war will never end until we crush their supremacist agenda by demonstrating that we will never again allow such a horror to exist on this earth. As long as Muslim groups hold out hope for a restoration of the Caliphate this war, in its various forms, will go on".
Whether the Obama administration admits it or not, we are at war. Exacerbating the issue is that President Obama is on the side seeking the caliphate, while the greater majority of America is not; and few even know, or God forbid, even care.

France Top Target of ISIS
Written by Tom Olago and originally presented on Prophecy News Watch, we caught wind of the following excellent piece on this subject from over on the outstanding Black Quill & Ink blog:
By Tom Olago of Prophecy News Watch
The horror that unfolded in Paris last week, and the recent downing of a Russian airliner must have left many wondering: who will be next? Which city of ‘infidels’ and ‘crusaders’ will face the wrath of ISIS or some other terrorist group, hell-bent on shedding the blood of the innocent and leaving a long trail of destruction and pain in its wake?
No nation wants to be next, so heightened security alerts and measures are being hurriedly put into place, reactivated or enhanced all over the world, all in the hope of preventing terror attacks altogether, or minimizing the effects of any potentially successful ones.
Mali quickly discovered that it is almost impossible to know where the next terror attack is going to be as 21 people were killed after being taken hostage at the Radison Blu hotel by an Al Qaeda affiliate. Al Qaeda is looking to show that it is not to be forgotten in an effort to stay relevant in the ISIS onslaught. Belgium has gone on a high state of alert, which has included shutting down many parts of the city as it prepares to be next.
Many went into a panic over the weekend when reports surfaced that the online hacker group Anonymous had discovered information regarding planned terror attacks in Paris, the United States, Indonesia, Italy and Lebanon. Anonymous has since distanced itself from the report but it shows you how quickly disinformation or misinformation can propagate on the web and social media. We should expect a lot more of these types of false reports as people find themselves on edge which is exactly what Islamic terror groups are hoping.
One of the questions being asked is: why France? Some attacks conducted by Islamic Terrorists are clearly well planned and purposely chosen for symbolism such as the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon or the 7/7 bombings in London. Other attacks that are more "lone wolf" such as the Ft Hood shooting or the British soldier run down and beheaded in a London street in the middle of the afternoon are attacks of opportunity.
It is impossible to know where attacks of opportunity are going to arise but symbolic attacks take much more planning and it might be useful to examine the motivating factors behind the Paris onslaught for nations to examine their own history and policies that may make them a target.
A recent analysis by Elliot Friedland for the Clarion Project.org believes ISIS prioritizes which countries to attack, and when. He offers five top reasons that Paris, and France in general was singled out:
1. France has been fighting the Islamic State and other Islamists, and so far has been the only European country to join the air strikes with the U.S;
2. France has specifically named the Islamist ideology as the problem. They have stated that they are at war with radical Islam and have taken steps against other extremist groups;
3. France is standing up for its values and seeking to integrate Muslims. ISIS finds this unacceptable. The model proposed by Prime Minister Manuel Valls explicitly stated: “We seek to establish a model of Islam that is fully integrated, fully compatible with the values of the Republic.”
4. Paris represents the enlightenment values of Western civilization. ISIS derides Paris as “the capital of prostitution and vice, the lead carrier of the cross in Europe - Paris.”
5. The Islamic State is obsessed with history and honor. It carries a grudge with France over what it sees as historical injustices dating back to the 11th century, and now seeks to re-assert itself over Europe whilst taking the form the revived Muslim Caliphate.
None of the above are reasons that would resonate with civilized modern society, yet as usually happens, such attacks still tend to motivate other potential terrorists to launch their own offensives. They thrive on riding the publicity waves as far as possible, while media interest and social focus on terror is still at its highest.
Ryan Mauro of ClarionProject.org suggests that there are several ISIS threats that now loom large:
1. “Copycat" attacks by the Islamic State and other Islamist terrorist supporters, including those who are loyal to Al-Qaeda, who want to show that the group hasn't become a ‘has-been’ in the jihadist world - such as Mali.
2. There are those who will worry that they might now lose their chance to strike and earn their ticket to Paradise by dying in jihad as a "martyr." Supporters of the Islamic State have every reason to expect Western governments to become extra aggressive in rounding up possible terrorists. ISIS supporters who believe they are on the authorities' radar could choose to act sooner instead of patiently preparing their plot and risk being foiled, as suggested by the terror alert in Belgium.
Mauro believes that the recent attacks will earn ISIS a wave of recruits and encourage the millions of Islamic State supporters who have yet to take up arms finally to act upon their beliefs. The West will need to push back and counteract the ISIS propaganda scores, by persistently reminding ISIS and the world of the group’s failures, mistakes and acts of terror, all carried out in the name of Islam.
In a recent analysis published in Christian Headlines.com, Ayman S. Ibrahim states four ways that ISIS bases its acts of violence on religion, and why it matters:
1. ISIS based its actions on a literal reading of the Qur'an. It views itself as truly Islamic and claims its actions are supported by the Qur'an.
2. For ISIS followers, France is at war with Islam. The ISIS-issued statement that accepted responsibility for the attacks portrays France (and its allies) as Crusaders, literally “the holders of the Cross,” portraying the war in purely religious terms.
3. The attacks were meant to imitate seventh-century raids led by the Prophet Muhammad. The statement identified the Paris attacks using the Arabic term “ghazwa”, meaning ‘battle’. This term is said to have been primarily used in the biography of Muhammad, in reference to his raids and expeditions against the non-Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula in the seventh century.
4. The terrorists viewed themselves as martyrs for Islam. They died, the statement said, to support the cause of the true religion and in fulfillment of the charges of the Prophet Muhammad to humiliate enemies, rubbing “their noses in the dusty ground.”
Ayman concludes that to claim that all Muslims are terrorists is far from correct, but to deny or underestimate the significant power and influence of some Islamic texts and specific interpretations of them is not prudent, either.
