Rivalry Renewed
Oklahoma recently lost former signal caller Jack Mildren to disease, shown here eluding 'Husker DB Joe Blahak.
Officials at Oklahoma have invited former players and coaches from "The Game of the Century" in 1971 to come back for a reunion. It is being well received on both sides. This was a fantastic contest of two stellar teams, and it is correctly identified as the greatest college game of the day. Oklahoma greats from Gregg Pruitt to Jon Harrison will be mingling with 'Huskers Rich Glover, Larry Jacobson and Heisman Trophy Winner Johnny 'The Jet' Rodgers. Everyone is looking forward to sharing the memories. It does appear that the Sooners will be a bit to strong for Nebraska to contend with on the field this year, but that is why they play the game.
A first half punt return by Johnny Rodgers, otherwise known as JR Superstar, electrified the crowd back in 1971, and you can have a look at it yourself. That was indeed NOT a clip for those of you wondering. GBR!
Wealth Redistributor
Interviewed after the rally, "It was the most memorable time of my life! I won't have to worry about puttin gas in my car, won't have to worry about payin my mortgage" commented Joseph. "If I help him, he's gonna help me." No one will be confusing Ms. Joseph as an informed voter, much less an economist.
How does Ms. Joseph think Obama will pay for her and her comrades. Idiots like this are bolting to the voting booth to elect the Wealth Redistributor, Obama. Barack will require you to participate, and he wants to take money from hard working American citizens and at his own discretion give it to mentally challenged idiots like this.
The Soviet Union used to think they would take the US over by feeding us socialism until it ultimately became a communist nation. If Ms. Joseph is representative of our voting public, we are in very serious trouble.
One thing I agree with Ms Joseph on is that we both thought this day would never happen. Neither Obama nor Ms. Joseph can have my money. Out of my cold dead hands!!!

Don't Judge Me Bro
The exceptional work of Mr. Ramirez can be found daily on America's leading editorial page in Investors Business Daily.
Unintended Consequences
Certainly, one would suspect the game presents an escape from this political world of lawyers running rampant, but officials at the University of Houston regrettably do find themselves in need of representation after a completely unnecessary gruesome injury to one their players during a contest at Marshall University. Take a look:
Houston receiver Patrick Edwards had been having an outstanding season and was in consideration for freshman All America honors. Now, his career could be in jeopardy due to the compound fracture he suffered because some moronic halftime producer parked a series of carts all along the back of the end zone.
The list of unintended consequences of folks who do not think is quite long, and costly. Could this be describing some potential voters out there? You damn right!

Obama Skirting the Truth: Rev. Wright
Barack Obama, although he was a 20 year member of Trinity Church in Chicago under the direction of Reverend Jeremiah Wright, never heard Wright make any of his radical comments. Rev. Wright married the Obamas and baptised their children, and Wright was and is quite close with Obama. Obama stated in a speech that in no way could he disown Rev. Wright, but then did so weeks later after more You Tube videos hit the airwaves and the political expediency became apparent. Skirting the truth.
Obama has been quite disingenuous when it comes to his association with Wright. The American citizens deserves more. I have hammered Wright before noting that he is a bitter man with a strong hatred of this country, and this is quite evident when listening to his tirades.
Anyone friendly with and getting counsel from Rev. Wright should not be anywhere near the oval office of this great country. Associations and alliances do in fact matter, and you can learn plenty about someone by examining their associates and identifying their friends.
I hope and pray America realizes what is a stake in this election. Even when not blinded by Obama's smoke, the choice is beyond clear.

Free Speech Attacked
First, some background. WFTV Channel 9 is my local ABC affiliate here in lovely downtown Orlando. Although they have some decent personnel, Eye-missed-it-news is like most other local news stations. If it bleeds it leads, they frequently break into programming, yes unfortunately during third down and five, to report about a sunshower in some two light town just on the fringe of their coverage area because they are there for us and would not know a county commission meeting if it broke out in their parking lot, and it almost does due to proximity.
But longtime professional reporter Barbara West connected on a three run homer with this Biden interview, daring to tread where most of the mainstream media would not consider. Excellent job Barbara!! Take a listen.
Without question, these are legitimate questions and should not have caused such a stir given the recent encounter Obama had with Joe the Plumber. But beyond the obvious, the real troubling aspect is how Obama is treating reporters and stations which dare to challenge him. Can you say fairness doctrine?
Media analyst Bernard Goldberg, formerly of CBS News, weighs in on the subject on FOX News Fox & Friends. Bernie calls it like he sees it.
Can you imagine if George W. Bush banned the media that challenged him? Remember the uproar when it was incorrectly thought Gen. Colin Powell cut short a NBC interview on Meet The Press with Tim Russert?
The arrogance of Obama and Biden is staggering. Although odds strongly favor this is an example of how a potential Obama administration will deal with those against them, one can only hope it is not. America will change dramatically should Obama get elected, and I think all you zombies will not quite like what is in store for you down the road should it happen. Censorship of the media by quiting the opposition, would be among the first nails in the coffin of the America we once knew.
Wake Up America!!!!!!!!!!

You have to love the Steve Pederson-Dave Wannstedt Pitt Panthers, where after a season opening home loss to Bowling Green and clawing your way back into the Top 25, you get blasted by a struggling Rutgers, who hung half a hundred on Pitt.....I could not figure out whether Penn State is better than I thought or if Ohio State is worse than I thought. One I thing I know is that I do not want to see an undefeated inferior Big Ten team getting waxed in the title game.......If Texas Tech was ever going to emerge into the land of the big boys, it would be this weekend as they host #1 Texas.......Missouri took out frustrations bombing a decent Colorado team 58-0; ouch....The worlds largest cocktail party will take place this weekend and it should be top notch drama, and it looks like Florida over Georgia based on how they are playing, but.....Offenses these days are just staggering in the points they can put up. Oklahoma had 55 at the half versus Kansas State and the Wildcats had 28 themselves, while Texas Tech had over 50 on Orange Bowl Champs Kansas......When Florida State and Virginia Tech get together, you better tighten up the headgear. Last year, FSU QB Drew Weatherford got knocked cold and this year both VT quarterbacks were injured and had to leave while the Seminoles lost their top two running backs with second string back Jermaine Thomas getting knocked lights out.....Everyone is talking about Ohio State true freshman quarterback Terrell Pryor, but Robert Griffin III is putting on a real show at Baylor, one you should take notice of.

Sarah Palin Visits Greater Orlando
Palin was introduced by Elisabeth Hasselback of ABC's The View and along for the event was Sean Hannity of FOX News Hannity & Colmes. I have been a fan of Sarah Palin long before John McCain picked her for the VP slot. After meeting her, I found her stronger than advertised. She has quite a future ahead of her.

Your Joe the Plumber? So am I
As Joe the Plumber became famous across the country, media outlets and the Obama campaign set out to discredit Joe, investigating his personal history, which is shameful. Most Americans feel the distribution of wealth policy Obama aspires to implement is socialistic, although Obama vehemently disagrees with that assertion. I got a news flash for you; it is. This has not gone over well with most sensible thinking Americans, of which many are "Joe the Plumbers". Meet Joe as he sits down with Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes on FOX News Hannity & Colmes.
In fact, I am Joe the Plumber! Check me out pictured below wrestling a toilet this afternoon in the bathroom of a one of my rental units I am remodeling. We have just completed the tile in the tub set.
Barack Obama wants to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire and then raise taxes on individuals who make over $250,000K (many individuals have corporations which make over $250,000K which get filed on their personal tax returns). He also wants to raise the capital gains tax! I can assure you I do not get up every morning to go bust my ass mowing yards, wrestling toilets, painting and cleaning up vacated rental units to have Obama take my hard earned money and distribute it where he sees fit in an effort to "spread the wealth". For that type of Revolution, you can count me out!
Should he win and my taxes go up, in an effort to protect my profit margin I worked so hard to obtain, the additional tax burden will promptly be passed along to the folks who can least afford it. In the case of my rental properties, that would be the tenants.
Trickle down economics at its finest. How is that for Obamanomics!
Limit Down
The real story is hedge funds meeting margin calls, and a lack of confidence by investors and visibility of leadership by any equities. Or, the prospect of an Obama anti-growth and high tax administration is spooking the market. I don't know what I am having for dinner tonight, so who knows.
However, when it is real ugly just after lunch time I will look to put some money to work. It is usually a mistake to fight the tape but this market is very oversold on fear and, oh, suspect earnings we all already know about. Greed defeats fear. Remember Trading Places? Fear, that's the other guys problem.
It going to be a wild one, so as NASCAR's Larry McReynolds says, pull them belts tight just one more time!

Ties That May Be Binding
Hot Air blogger Ed Morrisey came out of the gate this morning asking a question many of us may have been wondering about: Is there not some sort of RICO violation with respect to ACORN and if so, is anyone awake at The Department of Justice? The amount of voter fraud associated with ACORN is quite troubling, and given their alliance with Barack Obama, a potentially expansive full scale investigation should commence yesterday.

What Am I Talking About; Reprise
But Biden went off the deep end this week with some very dark commentary as reported by ABC News. Biden says "to mark his words" that if elected, Senator Barack Obama, D:IL, would be tested internationally within the first six months in power. Biden continued, "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy." This cannot be good!
As if that were not sobering enough, Biden further commented "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."
What am I talking about? Does Biden know something we don't? It sure sounds that way. Certainly, the commentary about us hanging in with Barack cause it won't appear we are right is most troubling. Sounds like I need a concealed weapons permit quick.
I recommend we just skip the mettle testing and elect a war hero with decades of foreign policy experience, where doubting his resolve and geopolitcal knowledge is not required. Gee, reason 43,454 to vote for John McCain over Barack Obama.
Since the media is projecting the makeup of Obama's cabinet, I will help McCain out with one of his selections, Secretary of State. The man is John Bolton. Please take a listen to his commentary on the subject below in an interview with FOX's Hannity and Colmes:
Biden is right, Obama will be tested. Biden was also right that the Presidency, particularly at this vulnerable time, does not lend itself for on the job training. Wake up America, and see this for what it is, a very easy decision as you cast your vote November 4.

It is all about Texas now after coming back from behind and defeating Oklahoma going away and then absolutely dismantling a powerful Missouri team, the one you remember that crushed Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl last year. Now comes Oklahoma State, and it shall be quite a tussle, one I will be watching along with T Boone.
Brigham Young got spanked by a very aggressive TCU team, whose defensive unit is something to behold. No 5 star Rival recruits on it, but they fly to the ball. Ask BYU.....Several ACC teams team bit the dust, inclusive of Va. Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest....This opens the door for FSU, if they can break the threshold with a home victory vs. Virginia Tech Saturday.....Michigan is in serious jeopardy of failing to make a bowl game for the 34th consecutive season, leaving Nebraska the longest at 35. Florida State will take over with longest current streak at 26 with 27 almost a lock at this point.....Ohio State gets a crack at Penn State, and we can only hope the Buckeyes performance is better than the last big stage they were on...It is the third Saturday in October, which means Alabama faces a downtrodden Tennessee.....Other high profile contests include Texas Tech at Kansas and Georgia at LSU....Tulsa joins Ball State and enters the Top 25 this week on the heels of a high powered offense....Auburn and West Virginia square off Thursday night in a loser may not go bowling tilt, and that has to have folks on plain head scratching.
It is halfway through he season and there is some outstanding ball being played. Among the all stars, several are worthy of mention when it comes to the Heisman Trophy. If the award were handed out today, it would go to Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, and it should. He has a completion percentage difficult to accomplish playing catch in the back yard much less against top 25 competition. It will be interesting to see the rest of the way.

The Illogicality of Bele and Lokai
The case Powell made for Obama, and against John McCain, I found extremely weak and even misguided. Although I can buy his rationale for a "transformational figure", I will take issue with several of his other points.
"This Bill Ayers situation that's been going on for weeks became something of a central point of the campaign," Powell said. "But Mr. McCain says that he's a washed-out terrorist. Well, then, why do we keep talking about him?"
We speak of Mr. Ayers not because he is an unrepentant terrorist, but because it displays the lack of judgement of Obama by alliances he has formed with folks who hate America and wish it ill will. Certainly, Reverend Wright would be yet another example.
Powell commented he sees the Republican party moving to far toward the right. I wish it were true, but it is not. John McCain is the Republican candidate Democrats could snuggle up to. He is the one who, much to my distaste, who has crossed the aisle and sponsored bills with Democratic leaders such as Russ Feingold, who is off the planet out there, and Ted Kennedy.
Sarah Palin is also concerning to Powell. "I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States". Fair enough, although she does have executive experience as a Governor and has an extensive record in dealing with a significant issue of the day in energy. While Powell questions Palin's readiness, count me among those who has the same questions about Obama, and he is pursuing the one slot. Powell feels McCains decision to pick her raises judgement questions. Cool to hang with Ayers and Rev. Wright but don't pick a Governor for VP?
Powell further commented "I would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, but that's what we'd be looking at in a McCain administration." Given the rhetoric of the domestic policies Obama has indicated, this may be my top reason for supporting McCain. I think our whole judicial system is a mess and much too liberal, otherwise many of the criminals would remain locked up, even if they were not able to have cable television.
"In the case of Mr. McCain I found that he was a little unsure as to how to deal with the economic problems that we were having," Powell said. Obama "displayed a steadiness, an intellectual curiosity, a depth of knowledge and an approach to looking at problems like this." If I didn't know, I would be curious as well. Obama sat the episode out, or voted present, making only generic commentary on the subject. In my view, Obama's lack of understanding how our financial markets function is frightening.
So, either Powell is a leftist Democrat masquerading as a Republican or something else is behind his decision. Since his reasoning does not stack up, I suspect there is, and that Powell is supporting Obama because he is black.
This is illogical decision making and one I think Dr. Martin Luther King would discard. Casting a vote is among the most important roles our citizens can play, and that vote should be cast for the best person you feel can represent you and our fellow citizens in performing the duties set forth. A decision should not be made based on color or creed or favorite football team, or as a nation we could end up in a most illogical battle for our souls, much like the one portrayed between Bele and Lokai in Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek. It was an eyebrow raiser indeed!

Glenn Beck Joins FOX
If you have not had occasion to listen to Glenn on the radio, see his television program, read any of his books or see his fabulous stage shows, you need to take time out to do so.
Beck is a unique breed, offering honest and heartfelt commentary on the events of our day covering stories often neglected for whatever reason by the main stream media. In addition, Beck has a wit unmatched and often speaks what you think.
Congratulations to Beck, and although the 5PM time slot will cause me some difficulty, I will remain a loyal viewer whenever possible.

Media Bias? Case Closed
After an investigation, Foley was not charged. Count me as a Republican who thinks Foley is a piece of garbage and should have been kicked out the Congress on his ass if he did not resign.
Democratic leadership at the time inquired about a possible cover up suggesting the Republican leadership, including Speaker Dennis Hastert, R:IL, not only knew of Foley's actions but covered them up. There is zero corroborating evidence of this, but the Dems won big claiming to dispose of the party of corruption. The main stream news media. MSM, ran coverage of the Foley story 24/7, seemingly unable to climax (no pun intended) on coverage of the story.
Enter Tim Mahoney, D:FL, who challenged Foley and won his seat on a campaign of family values. Now, Mahoney is being investigated by the FBI for firing and potentially paying off a mistress, who broke up with him after learning of yet another affair. While Mahoney struggles for friction, he should at least match Foley and resign immediately. No such luck. In addition, Democratic leadership is said to have discussed this matter with Mahoney. Democratic leadership corrupt?
Good Heavens! Another sex scandal on the same Congressional seat with back to back Congressman, representing both parties! What a story!
With birds chirping, back at those bastions of academia, or the nations newsrooms, hardly a word has been spoken on the subject. Of course, FOX News has covered it, but according to Newsbusters, the disparity of coverage is beyond troubling, this of course, if you are depending on the news media for a legitimate unbiased coverage of events.
If you had any denial on this subject, this story is indeed a deciding factor. Did I mention this same media is cheerleading for the election of the chosen one, Barack Obama. Don't listen these elitist idiots; this race ain't over.
Obama Skirting the Truth: ACORN
ACORN is a left wing radical activist group of community activists, which aside from the pending issues with respect to voter fraud, is a major player in the housing crisis we find ourselves involved in at present. Barack Obama represented ACORN as an attorney threatening legal action against banks who, in the mind of ACORN, perhaps were racist in denying loans to potential home buyers who could not otherwise qualify. Shakedown anyone?
Is Obama not heavily influenced by this unethical, fraudulent and criminal organization? I say so, and here is some video for your review:
Seems like if Obama is elected, ACORN will be helping shape policy, which cannot be good. Please see Capm's Blog for further information on this troubling subject.

What a season, yes! First, we already have a significant ouster. No, unfortunately Barney Frank is still employed by Congress, but Tommy Bowden is out at Clemson. No doubt, the Tigers have apparently underperformed for years and this seasons opening versus Alabama was a disaster, but does it warrant an ouster at this point. I say no, and I think Clemson will rarely achieve the success they have had under Tommy. And that QB Harper, who was benched by Bowden and is now mouthing off, along with his Dad, in the aftermath of his firing. You looked horrendous in the games I watched.
I still think Missouri is a very good football team, but I underestimated how good Oklahoma State is even though I had them ranked higher in the preseason than any other poll I saw.....I have been wondering what happened to Florida on offense, but I found out, like LSU, that when they want to show up, they are unstoppable.....Boy, will Miami sleep on you when playing lesser opponents.....Georgia took another injury hit on the offensive line, and these injuries will begin to take a toll.....Michigan losses to MAC team Toledo, who Ball State lit up and shut out a week ago. I think Rodriguez is shady so I take pleasure in Michigan's demise.....No. Carolina beat Notre Dame, but lost their best player for the year......Nebraska finally showed up and played like the team I thought they could be, but still found a way to lose....OU vs. Texas was a great football game and I was surprised the 'Horns got it done.....Illinois and Wisconsin are in free fall, as is Auburn. Minnesota was just awful a year ago but now sits bowl eligible! Virginia is the odd ball team this year, getting killed by USC and Duke? and beating up Maryland and East Carolina, whose light has been turned off....TCU and BYU tangle this Friday night in what should be real fun....Missouri and Texas is the game of the week.

Another Unforgettable Day!
In the 24 Season 7 trailer, Jack Bauer is testifying before a congressional hearing, and he tells them he is accountable for his actions, does not regret them and does not care what the idiots on the hill say. The war against terror may be forgotten by the media, but it is still taking place. I hope we have 500 or so Jack Bauer's out there fighting for us, whatever it takes!

Nowhere To Hide
One characteristic in the culmination of a bear market is that "they get them all", translating that no stock is left without suffering carnage. Done! Even if the bear market is not over, we often see historical upswings within bear markets. One is fixin to happen very soon. The credit markets need to revert to some sense of normalcy before any sustained upward movement can be seen in the indicies.
Although the comparisons to the Great Depression are, quite frankly, getting people depressed, one area that offers some hope is the unemployment rate. As indicated in the chart presented below, gathered from the fantastic blog Carpe Diem , unemployment levels remain historically acceptable, particularly since "full employment", historically recognized at 3%, has risen to around 4.5 % over the past two decades.
Unemployment will definitely rise further in this environment, and I project it will top out at about 7.3%, which is not good, but fantastic when compared to the Great Depression. Hey, I predicted oil to drop to to 75 per barrel back in May!
I remember back in the dot com boom, folks proclaimed that things were different this time. Is it different this time? Although I don't know what time my first beer is tomorrow, I doubt it.
I heard today that GM may be doomed to fail! I have no idea, but I am willing to bet on the new Chevy Volt, which comes out in 2010 and therefore I aim to start dollar cost averaging the stock. What are you betting on?

The Sky Is Not Falling
The IBD editorial page today ran part one of a two part series on our current economic situation and investigated potential parallels of the Great Depression. In the IBD table presented below, we appear to have already had it. The graph shows another 4 years of meandering, which seems to me to signal a non growth, high tax Obama administration. The market has trouble moving forward when the opportunity for growth of companies, thus individuals, is handicapped.
The market actions of the last several weeks are intriguing. Governmental interference is not welcomed, as the DOW has dropped almost 2000 points since the bailout, which we were told was going to prohibit total economic collapse, was proposed. The significant wild swings and massive bottom diving is characteristic of a bear market ending. Everyone, not just the investment community, is sick to the stomach and wants nothing, I mean nothing, to do with the market. The sickness has apparently gotten hold of CNBC's Jim Cramer.
I do love my boy Chicken Little, but contrary to media reports, the sky is not falling. Although I do not know what I am having for dinner tonight, I am compiling a list of stocks with strong relative strength through researching the IBD stock tables. Let the market dictate, not the emotional headlines ruling the day. October surprise anyone?

Collecting ACORNS
Key Democrats, including those in leadership such as Barney Frank, D:MA and Chris Dodd, D:CT, are up to their eyeballs in this storm and should resign immediately, as we have already called for with respect to Dodd. Details of the impending issues were outlined in an article in The New York Times, in 1999. What is not common knowledge is the role Barack Obama has played in this. Yes, through his actions and associations (by howdy, this is a long list), the role is significant. Glenn Beck discusses this in an interview with David Freddoso of National Review.

I'll go with OU......Missouri dismantled Nebraska as I unfortunately was fearfull of......Vanderbilt has been knocking at the door for a few seasons now and seems prepared now to match a defense with their offense. Look for them in a bowl this year.....Ball State has cracked my Top 25, and the are deserving. I saw them in person in 2007 and behind quarterback Nate Harris, they are stout on offense.......Arkansas has major issues, but so does Florida; what happened to their offense?.....Florida State got a vital win over Miami......Notre Dame is not very good but may win 9 games....Between OU, Oklahoma State and Tulsa, the state of Oklahoma is undefeated and averaging over 50 points per game.....North Carolina, with their starting QB out for weeks, could win the ACC Coastal and look for them about 2009 preseason 10th.....Maryland followed up a nice start with a egg laying at Virginia....Wake Forest faces Clemson on Thursday with the loser in real trouble in the ACC.....Florida may not have enough in the trenches to tackle LSU, even at home.....Tennessee is in free fall.
Implosion Averted
But NO! This time, Florida State held on for a huge rain soaked win over rival Miami. Thankfully, and as I suspected, all that voodoo seems to have gotten buried at the old Orange Bowl.

What Am I Talking About?
Underestimate Sarah Palin at your own peril. At least she knows when the television was invented.
What am I talking about, I'm off to the 7-Eleven for a Big Gulp!

Not So Fast My Friend
Former President Bill Clinton discussed the other day how Congressional Democrats blocked his efforts to regulate Fannie and Freddie during his administration. The far left has little use for Clinton unless it is of some benefit to them, which is really mind boggling if you think about it. Presidents Clinton and Bush, as well as GOP nominee John McCain, are all on the record calling for action to stop this potential crisis.
This well done video is making the rounds on blogs from Powerline to Capm's Blog. It is well worth an investment in your time as the well documented information presented is critical in your decision making process in the upcoming election. Have at it!
Losing Control
What is making me sick is the political pontification by a series of idiots (Congress), and of far greater concern is the attempts at using this economic crisis as an opportunity for government to seize additional power.
Glenn Beck revisited with Amity Shlaes, author of The Forgotten Man on the Great Depression. She details how governmental intervention, as usual, created more problems.
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.--Ronald Reagan
Not having a full grip on the magnitude of the economic crisis, I conclude it is unfortunately possible some governmental intervention is required. If a Bill is passed, limit the intervention to that and DO NOT throw earmarks and donations to pimping political organizations like ACORN in it. It will be my pleasure to hold you all responsible at the voting booth!
