Look Out for Life Sciences

After noticing a cup and handle formation in process, I initiated a position in Meridan Bioscience. The stock has since broken out and could have room to run. Let's learn more!

Minimum Wage Motivation

The ripple effect of a minimum wage raised by government intervention rather than by market forces are easily predictable.

Therefore, reasoning for the government to continue to intervene creating market inefficiency must reside outside of promoting gainful employment and the betterment of our economy including business owners, workers and consumers.

Wonder what the motivation could possibly be?

A. Attempting to increase the voter base of the Democrats
B. A cog in the wheel of the road traveled to socialism
C. Control of a large faction of the citizenry
D. All of the above

I'll take D, with B most weighted. What say you?

Agenda 21 Evil Initiative

Are you familiar with Agenda 21 (now noted as Agenda 2030)?

It is a global effort operating under the false premise of climate change which in reality is a vehicle of wealth transfer while reducing the sovereignty of nations while increasing control over their citizenry.

As noted in Investors Business Daily, "Agenda 21 is intended to foster what environmentalists call "sustainable development" in the belief that man since the Industrial Revolution has been a plague on the planet, plundering its resources while destroying nature and putting the world at risk of disastrous climate change, poverty and disease."

"It’s a parasitical representation of the 1%, feeding on the 99. Agenda 21. Divide. Dumb down.Conquer."

Become acquainted with this effort, for make no mistake, this evil initiative places your liberty and freedom is very much at stake.

Surrender

With SONY Pictures in full capitulation, and the Obama administration seemingly out to lunch, as Michael Ramirez of Investors Business Daily so accurately points out, a deeply troubling precedent is being set.

Michael Ramirez/Investors Business Daily
Not only are the cyber attacks of great concern, but the diplomatic ground being given up for no apparent reason by President Obama will cause untold damage for decades.

With his transformation fully engaged, Obama has done his best to alienate our friends and allies while extending overtures, if not prostituting the US, to long held enemies.

North Korea, thought by some to be responsible for the cyber attack on SONY but more likely a smokescreen for the truth, is moving forward quickly without hindrance in building their own nuclear weapon. Russia has been given more flexibility by BHO after his election win, and Obama has helped pave the way for the caliphate whose goal is the emergence of a greater Syria similar to the old Ottoman Empire. ISIS and the Taliban are running roughshod, killing women and children, with part of their army prisoners the BHO released.  Obama has reached out to Iran, also building a nuclear weapon, and Mexico and Cuba have had steps taken by Obama to redistribute our wealth to them.

It is really astonishing, and our elected officials are either on board or doing little if nothing to stop it, outside of about 20 in the GOP.

If you did not know any better, you would think President Obama is in process of surrendering US sovereignty to the world, perhaps ultimately governed by The United Nations, an organization Obama could well see himself running in approximately two years.

Perhaps he is.

Cranking Around Redlining

The United States of America, due to orchestrated action from President Obama, is sadly in great decline.

The weakness exhibited in foreign policy, almost immediately upon his election with his apology tour for American Exceptionalism, has emboldened our enemies and threatened our allies.

Michael Ramirez/Investors.com

The anti-colonialist Obama has done a splendid job in reducing America on the world stage, by design in his planned effort to transform the United States of America, to levels not seen since the Carter administration.

The Obama foreign policy, resembling a sleepwalk through an international relations course, has placed America in a very vulnerable position, culminating with Vladimir Putin and Russia in theory invading the Ukraine.

Obama has issued a red line; however, his ultimatums and threats are laughed upon by our opponents.

The only red lines Obama is successful in drawing is ever so brilliantly exhibited by editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez of Investors Business Daily.

America had better take notice of this dangerous discrepancy; and quickly.

Consequences of Truth

Trick!

Michael Ramirez/Investors Business Daily

You don't get to keep your health care plans.

Another home run by Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez of Investors Business Daily, whose editorial page will inform you what is really going on.

Although the mainstream media is running as much interference as possible in effort to protect the President and his objectives of transformation from the public, the truth is seeping out.

With much of the general public picking themselves up off their driveway after having been met with sticker shock, or even cancellations, they figure the government simply was off target in their calculations.  However, the government, or shall I say the progressive architects of the bill nobody outside of Betsy McCaughey read, knew all along this would be the case.

In fact, as reported by The Washington Examiner, according to Sander Levin, D-Mich, the "so-called cancellation notices" merely "help people transition to a new policy."

You have been lied to, repeatedly, and while you may not recognize your freedoms are being decreased with contracting choice, your wallet will pinch you so hard you won't be able to find a seat.

With a disaster of titanic proportions, the people will rise up and demand the government fix the problem, which is yet another move of orchestration by the Obama regime. The ends justify the means with the Obama regime.

On to a single payer plan, where everyone is insured.  The single payer plan has always been the objective of the progressives, with a low degree of difficulty of discovery for those who sought the truth.  The truth has not been concealed from us.  The truth has just been danced around by the media, and an intoxicated public by the irrelevance found in a trivial culture has failed to protect the freedoms our founders fought to give us.

The authors of the plan, The Tides Foundation, spoke candidly about it.  President Obama, even prior to being elected, discussed openly his goal of achieving a single payer system.  The only difference is that few thought it could become a reality so quickly.

With many thinking Obamacare was the ultimate treat, with the restriction of the freedom of choice of health care and lifestyle decisions coupled with escalating costs, it can only be classified as a trick for those reduced to members of the outer party, plagued by passivity and preoccupation.

We tried, unsuccessfully, to warn you.  Please pay better attention, while you still can. This is no trick.

2X4

Yet another stellar effort from award winning editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez of Investor's Business Daily reminds us that we must never forget those patriots that have served our great nation.  All gave some, some gave all.

Our elected officials are accountable to us, and we must continue to demand justice against those who have brought harm to our country.  While one may conclude the efforts to hold those accountable for 9-11-01 have been satisfactory, the effort regarding Benghazi has been appalling, entangled by lies, distortion and deflection from our current leaders.

What difference does it make?

Contrary to the despicable accounting by Hillary Clinton, it makes all the difference in the world for our nation.

Never Forget!

Ross Reporting From Fantasyland

ABC News Investigative Reporter Brian Ross is living in Fantasyland. Or is he?

In a simply stunning example of media bias, Brian Ross has come under fire for an inexcusable misrepresentation of the facts in the aftermath of the tragic series of events in Aurora, Colorado.

Take a listen:

Ross tried to tie the suspect to the Tea Party, noting one of the 25 estimated residents with the same name had previously signed up for the Tea Party.  Ross has done some good work in the past, and prior to this, was highly thought of.

ABC quickly responded with an apology, which was insufficient and not accepted.  So egregious was this level of reporting, even the members of the left wing media are hammering ABC and Ross. In fact, as a shareholder of the Walt Disney Corporation, owners of ABC, I demand Ross be immediately terminated, with Stephanopoulos placed on probation.

Ross is as experienced as they come, so do not buy the we made an error commentary.  Ross spoke this knowingly and by throwing the Tea Party narrative into this story, plants a narrative that is difficult to rewind.  Where does the Tea Party go to get its reputation back?

This is not the first time, and the list is long as compiled by The Blaze, the media has slandered political opponents.

The major news networks, most notably ABC, CBS, NBC and certainly CNN actively misrepresent the facts efforting to fit within their conspired narrative; therefore, they cannot be considered credible.
If you must watch a network news program, FOX News channel stands alone.  Newspapers you should stick with are The Wall Street Journal and Investors Business Daily, if you want to read what is really going on.

Sunday Night Song

It has been s strange week in the political arena this week, highlighted perhaps by the oddity of a composite woman. As it turns out, in his book "Dreams From My Father", Obama, or perhaps Bill Ayers, skirted the truth once again in code speak by morphing several girlfriends into a "composite woman".

Obama claimed to be so intellectually superior to these misguided women that they lost their own identity in his book, and in his mind.

The emergence of this story, coupled with the Obama campaign introducing us to Julia, who needs the assistance of our gifted Commander in Arrogance throughout her entire life and Obama crackpot crony and aspiring Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren claiming Native American status all the while insulting our Native American friends.

The collection of these stories this week has opened the floodgates for political fodder, with the best analysis presented by the sharp witty mind of Mark Steyn in a recent Investors Business Daily editorial.

Perhaps blinded by arrogance, one must marvel at the imagination Obama is blessed with.  From having to spend time with in his early years with white women who failed to quite understand the anger and need to get down with the struggle to thinking his presidency is a rousing success, it is astonishing.

Imagination run wild.

This brings us to a fantastic ballad about imagination and composite women of the mind; Atlanta Rhythm Section and their 1977 smash Imaginary Lover. Unfortunately, Obama's private pleasure of a socialist utopia are ruining our the lives our citizens at an alarming rate.  If only his intentions were imaginary.

Anyhow, November is coming, with satisfaction guaranteed, God willing. In the meantime, a classic tune in Imaginary Lover should brighten the mood.

Enjoy!

The Santelli Slam

President Obama, unable to run his campaign on the merits of his first term since it has been nothing short of abysmal, has resorted to tactics unbecoming the Grinch. Obama is attacking anybody and everybody, but perhaps the worst aspect of his antics is his economic commentary surrounding what is known as "The Buffett Rule".

Generally speaking, President Obama indicates that Mr. Buffett pays less taxes than his secretary, which simply is not the case. It has been reported that Mr. Buffett's secretary does not make enough annual salary to reach the 25% bracket; therefore, she pays taxes at the 15% rate. Mr. Buffett, provided he makes a salary over approximately $150,000, pays 25% minimum on his income, which is more than his secretary. It should be noted that Buffett makes the majority of his income on dividends from his investments, including his company Berkshire Hathaway, and dividends are taxed at 15%, equal to his secretary.

President Obama is not being square with the American people when he misrepresents the facts in such a deceitful way. Most Americans are not shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway and do not engage in reviewing the annual report and therefore, fail to recognize the lies being told them. It is noted I am a longtime Berkshire Hathaway shareholder and read the annual reports.
The fine editorial page at Investors Business Daily examines this mess further.

Imagine we did hit the most wealthy with additional taxes in an effort to force them to "pay their fair share". Where would that get us? CNBC's Rick Santelli, father of the TEA Party, gives us an earful from his perch at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

The entire argument Obama is presenting to the American people on this subject is incorrect, and he is well aware of it. This speak volumes about his character, since America is on the precipice of financial disaster. Obama's actions tell us he is much more concerned about being re-elected than solving the critical economic issues of our time.

Hitting the extremely wealthy with a heavier tax burden will not solve problems, instead creating a host of them. If taxed a higher rate, these folks (investors) will not be incentivized to earn more and will invest and spend less; therefore, creating less commerce which in turn results in less tax revenue for Uncle Sam and hurts those Obama claims he is attempting to assist. As Santelli points out, the impact on solving the massive debt issues would hardly be measurable.
This whole level of discussion is nothing more than a campaign gimmick, one that divides our citizens in class warfare over a false premise. With our country in such great economic peril, I find these actions by our President and his surrogates nothing short of disgraceful.

A Matter of Trust

At the end of the day, I have always thought our President was born in Hawaii. No doubt, I have many questions about his upbringing, educational background, suspect activities and friendships he has had. Show me your friends and I will identify your character.

There are many who question the birthplace of President Obama. Birthers, as they are called, have been vilified from both sides of the political isle as kooks, along the lines of UFO supporters. Even Glenn Beck thinks the issue is a waste of time. For those who wish to spend the time, the questions are legitimate and I say question with boldness!

Among the elites who condescend to those in doubt, on Wednesday, CNBC's John Harwood, gleefully bathing in Obama bathwater, described those who questioned the birthplace of President Obama as uniformed and not very smart or rational. I was waiting for him to note our lack of fly swatting abilities.

Recently, potential GOP 2012 hopeful Donald Trump has been out front questioning Obama and his birth certificate. Jerome Corsi, of World Net Daily, has just released a sure to be best seller "Where's The Birth Certificate". Perhaps it was the scorching editorial in Investors Business Daily on Wednesday, but for whatever reason, President Obama abruptly held a news conference and produced his birth certificate.

President Obama said we got better things to do and we should not spend time on this crazy issue. I recognize the President is very busy with the problems our country is facing and cannot be saddled with questions from carnival barkers. Quiet on the tee box!

The President has used the birth certificate as a political pawn, for those who engage the subject pay a political price as they are overwhelmingly pounded as on the lunatic fringe. Until Trump, about the farthest a GOP candidate would go is Michele Bachmann, who said she takes the President at his word.

I know why President Obama played his Trump card and finally produced the document. It is a matter of trust.

On the heels of a long list of disturbing actions, Obama has lost the trust of the American people. Through the Czars, governmental agencies like the EPA regulating dead policy initiatives and executive orders rendering the Congress as impotent, Obama has made effort to transform our system of government into a dictatorship. This is not how the founding fathers drew it up. Obama engages in Alinsky tactics of ridiculing opponents, governing by thugocracy and speaking publicly in half truths while taking actions in opposite directions.

Obama blasted George W. Bush on the wars, but is still engaged in both and has us involved in another skirmish with little or no strategic plan. Sky high gas prices was a lack of leadership under Bush but no big deal as Obama sees it. Guantanamo Bay is thankfully still in operation. The wreckless abandon with which he is spending us into bankruptcy is frightening, and he had the gall to trash Paul Ryan, R:WI, who had the guts to put forward a plan of action to tackle entitlements.

Finally, the American people are freaked out by this President, who is nothing but a fast talking community agitator who is severely in over his head. On top of that, he does not see America as you and I do, rather just another flag on the flagpole.

Obama is arrogant, dishonest and pretends fact are not facts. Never has watching the other hand been more relevant than with Obama. Principally in part to the actions by Obama during his first term, America is in a precipitous decline.

Folks do not like it. In producing the birth certificate, Obama is attempting damage control as he recognizes that he has lost the American people. He has, and while the reasons why are numerous, at the end of the day, it is simply a matter of trust.

Behind The Mask

Obviously, the chaos in Egypt is most troubling. Certainly, no society should ruled by the likes of strongman Hosni Mubarak. But is this a grass roots uprising for peace and prosperity?

It is not, and unfortunately, I am having difficulty finding the white hat in all this. Mohamed ElBaradei, the former UN weapons inspector who failed to see any wrong doing by Iran and drove into Cairo in his Volvo late last week, is an odds on favorite to take a leadership role. The media just loves him, but as Investors Business Daily accurately points out, ElBaraei would be a disaster.

ElBaraei is a fan of the Muslim Brotherhood and by extension HAMAS, as is seemingly anyone who steps in front of a microphone to discuss the issue save Glenn Beck. Everyone involved, including reporters at CNN, think the days of the Muslim Brotherhood acting up are in the past. They are not.

In the coming days I will be expanding thoughts on this crisis, however everything you need to know about the Muslim Brotherhood and those tentacle organizations associated with it, including but not limited to the Muslim Student Association, can be seen in the following exchange between an MSA member and David Horowitz.

Israel and freedom world wide is at extreme risk. Don't look for the media to expose any of the players, as they are complicit in it. Therefore, it will soon be time to reveal the masks, and I wonder who we will find around the shores of the Potomac.

It Could Happen

Bubbles are bouncing everywhere in the bathtub of our world, and they are seemingly increasing in size. Unfortunately, or depending on how you look at it, fortunately, this is more man made than a natural phenomenon.

I remember Warren Buffett's letter to Long Term Capital offering to by them out as they imploded. You did not have your retirement in Pets.com did you? Many Americans, noting that home prices have never had significant depreciation, became accidental landlords if they were fortunate enough to hang on. Most were not so lucky.

What's it like inside the bubble? Oh, my head is giving me trouble.

Where is the bubble now?

In an excellent editorial in Investors Business Daily, Scott Powell says it is already here.

Is the bubble in the worlds reserve currency? And what if that bursts?

Damon Vickers of Nine Points Capital Management has an idea:

Powell makes a great point in his editorial that "risk has shifted from the private sector to the public sector, with the US government debt market being the new bubble". God help us!

We have inmates running the asylum, and without a significant shift in planning, life as we know it is finished. It is imperative we urgently go back to the Reagan principle of sound money, which will take placing those with economic insight in charge. As Powell accurately states, Congressman Paul Ryan and his Roadmap for America is a fine place to start.

Time is not on our side. Inaccurate cost estimates for risk are expensive, and there is no free lunch. Make your voice heard now, before it is too late.

Actions Admission of Failure

Obamacare, much like the conditions on last weeks disabled cruise ship so accurately pointed out by Investors Business Daily's Michael Ramirez, is starting to really stink. Recall, we had to pass the bill to find out what is in the bill, and the more we uncover, the more we don't not like.

Almost immediately, many corporations, some of whom helped craft the legislation, quickly realized the burden the legislation would have and sounded a loud alarm. McDonalds led the way.

Of course, many of us recognized this from the get go, including Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who spoke yesterday on the subject. The lovely Shannon Bream of FOX News has the story:

As noted by Bachmann, certainly among my favorite currently elected officials, some 111 corporations and unions have been granted a waiver in terms of adhering to the biting regulatory grip of the legislation. Obviously, once again, the government under this administration is picking winners and losers, which is in violation of free market principles. I run a handful of small businesses, but, seriously Dude, where is my waiver ?

While rising costs and the prospect of a restriction on choice seem apparent, the problem is much worse than recognized by the average American.

Today, Donald Berwick, recently appointed by President Obama to be the nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, finally was formally introduced to Congress. Be advised, much like the NEA is not about the advancement of public education, the new healthcare plan is not about improved healthcare nor cost containment, but rather the redistribution of wealth. Don't buy it? Take a listen:

Berwick thinks government can more efficiently run health care than the private sector. No doubt, Berwick missed Reagan's proclamation that government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem.

Additionally, the new heatlthcare bill contains measures allowing for death panels. I know you remember the intellectually hampered Sarah Palin getting lambasted by the mainstream media for having the gal to incite the public by claiming the formation and implementation of death panels existed within the bill. Golly, Palin is just so lacking in "intellectual curiosity".

I know facts are hard to come by when you live your life on the left side of the street, but perhaps if you favorite Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman describes that death panels are in fact part of Obamacare, and he did just that this weekend, you may recognize Palin posting on Facebook beat the New York Times to the story once again. Investors Business Daily slams Krugman on the nations top editorial page

Thankfully, due to the results of the recent election, which decimated the Democrats, the brakes will be slammed on the accelerated onslaught of crony capitalism under President Obama's transformation of America.

The country is in great peril due to the insane policies of this administration, and the sooner we put an abrupt halt to the implementation of said policies, the better.

To Tell The Truth

During the course of my daily media viewing, from FOX News to CNBC, I hear political and economic analysts routinely create controversy by out and out lying to the viewers. Certainly, items of discussion like a prediction of the price of a particular stock price in three months has a varinace of opinion. Good luck with that. Those guys are smarter than I am as I don't even know what I am having for lunch tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the rapidly increasing lies go much deeper that what Coca Cola trades at come St. Patricks Day. Take the "established" rhetoric that the Obama administration has created or "saved" some 3 million jobs. Are you trying to kid me? No, you are lying to me. Brent Bozell, founder of The Media Research Center, has had enough:

I have had enough as well. I try to call many of the culprits out here on the blog, but time constraints prohibit me from even scratching the surface. During political season, and we are squarely in the thick of that as we approach the most important election of my lifetime on November 2, a real "Time of Choosing", I want to express to my readers how important it is to know your sources.

From Common Cents Blog comes a blog piece I have been aiming to present on my own for some time, highlighting perhaps your best economic and political source for credible information. It can be found on the pages of Investors Business Daily.

Common Cents Blog says: "The absolute best editorial page you will read is Investor's Business Daily. IBD prints easy-to-read, concise and hard hitting editorials that tout the benefits of free enterprise." A subscriber since 1994, I am in complete agreement with this assertion. Common Cents Blog lists the editorial pieces from Tuesday, October 26, 2010. I added a few they left off, and added commentary on each piece.

EDITORIALS

ObamaCare: Finding things we don't like in the Democrats' overhaul legislation is becoming an almost daily event. Add to the list the possibility that a provision in the bill could be almost six times more costly than the initial estimate. We need to pass the bill to find out what is in the bill. This is completely lacking in common sense, is insulting and a unfathomable display of arrogance. Did I mention we are broke?

WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction): Iraq War documents released by WikiLeaks show that U.S. forces frequently encountered weapons of mass destruction facilities and specialists. A former president is owed an apology. I find WikiLeaks and its founder disgusting. However, I have and had no doubt Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that Iran is and continues to be the head of the snake. Thank You President Bush!

Fiscal Responsibility: Facing historic electoral losses, big-spending Democrats have stooped to lying about Rep. Paul Ryan's innovative plan to save Social Security — aided and abetted by the establishment media. While Obama thinks he is the smartest guy in the room, economically, Ryan is. Come November 2, Uncle Same can finally utilize his talents to help us to perhaps regain prosperity again.

Election 2010: Nine days before Americans go to the polls, CBS' "60 Minutes" tells the true story of just how many of them are in the unemployment line. Brother, can you spare a vote? The housing crisis is one created in large measure by government interference and is far from being over. It has so decimated the economy that a extremely serious unemployment situation must now be dealt with prior to any meaningful repair in the housing market.

Islamofascism: O'Reilly, Whoopi and Joy are all wrong. The 9/11 terrorists weren't "Muslim extremists" or just plain "Muslims." A liberal newspaper reporter says they were model Muslims. More precisely, they were "perfect soldiers" for Allah, says Los Angeles Times national correspondent Terry McDermott. I have no idea why anyone would give a rats ass what Whoopi and lack of Joy Behar care about anything. However, watching "The View", which I do not, although I am a Disney (DIS:NYSE) shareholder, gives you a window on what a cancer the progressive mindset is to the founding principles of our nation.

War: With WikiLeaks exposing new U.S. secrets, the worst revelation is that the U.S. is vulnerable. As President Obama obsesses about exiting Iraq and Afghanistan, the leaks show that Iran is taking advantage. The globalist in chief is dangerously naive in global affairs. This is very troubling, and the un-American mindset of Obama is rapidly weakening America. Reagan thought peace through strength was the best course, and I quite agree.

Election '10: Megalomania and chutzpah has been redefined with the Senate majority leader's assertion that without him we'd be in worldwide depression. Unfortunately, he couldn't save his home state of Nevada. Reid thinks that without him, we would be in a worldwide depression. This may well be the most arrogant statement ever. He could not run a lemonade stand, but he thinks he is the Vince Lombardi of creating economic expansion.

On The Left: The Tea Party has no leader. It has no address, no phone and no Washington headquarters. It is everywhere and nowhere. For Barack Obama, the Tea Party is the quintessential asymmetrical enemy, much like the Taliban in Afghanistan. The president stands a chance of losing on both fronts. Leftist moonbat and Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen can't determine who the enemies of Obama are. Cohen and The Post have searched the Tea Party high and low to figure out how one could oppose the brilliance of the anointed one. No need to phone Columbo, Obama's enemies are free market capitalists, and given his statements to a Latino audience yesterday, those who oppose his policies, which is well over half the country.

On The Right: Classic songs from years past are sometimes referred to as "golden oldies." There are political fallacies that have been around for a long time as well. These might be called brass oldies. It certainly takes a lot of brass to keep repeating fallacies that were refuted long ago. Dr. Sowell, a fellow at The Hoover Institute at Stanford, is brilliant and someone who you should become acquainted with. Sowell is dead on in this piece, as we are retracing the steps that put us in The Great Depression. For a more detailed overview, read Amity Shlaes book "The Forgotten Man"

To "Read What Is Really Going On", choose IBD as a trusted source in this arena where many media outlets are sorely lacking in credibility. Then, you will be blinded by the light no more.

Dereliction of Duty

As the oil continues to gush from the collapse of the Deep Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama sits down with Matt Lauer of The Today Show to express his anger:

Obama indicates he is not talking to experts in some sort of college seminar, which is a major departure from how he has governed throughout, but looking to identify whose ass to kick. After BP CEO Tony Hayward, perhaps a mirror would be useful. Pamela Gellar of Atlas Shrugs agrees

The continued insistence that the administration has been on top of things is deceitful. Here on the blog I hammered Obama on this and among others, Investors Business Daily has followed up. From The New Zeal comes this video:

Unfortunately, while Obama is looking to kick someones ass, the environmental and economic fallout of this spill are almost immeasurable. What is needed immediately is leadership, as the implications of this going forward appear catastrophic.

A report from Texas A&M outlined by CNN Money tells a dire tale of the economic impact. The four biggest industries in the Gulf of Mexico are oil, tourism, fishing and shipping, and they account for some $234 billion in economic activity each year, according to a 2007 study done by regional scholars and published by Texas A&M University Press. In the Gulf, each of these industries have perhaps been dealt a fatal blow. We all might get hit if the oil travels around Florida and up the eastern seaboard. And what if the inlet to enter The Mighty Mississippi is compromised and shut down shipping?

When you think about it, this is beyond alarming and comes at a horrendous time economically, given this administration has escalated our nations debt to unsustainable levels. This kind of unforeseen disaster presents the kind of problem a prudent government would consider borrowing to assist, not pushing thorough a partisan health care bill 63% of Americans want repealed while tripling debt levels.

The world appears on fire, and the idiotic decisions being made by this administration on just about every front makes the case for a dereliction of duty by our elected leadership and leave this nation in great peril. When a disaster of the the magnitude of the Gulf Oil Spill is added to the mix, perhaps forecasting a double dip recession, this country is left quite vulnerable. Don't think for a moment we are not the only folks who recognize it.

Economic Suicide

Award winning Investors Business Daily Cartoonist and Senior Editor Michael Ramirez delivers yet another knockout. No wonder he is tops in his field.

There is no doubt that the governmental takeover of health care will be suicide for our economy, which is presently operating at unsustainable levels and is on brink of collapse anyhow. IBD editorializes on the subject.

One can only hope and pray the bill is rejected!

Piece By Piece

Five days before the presidential election last year, Senator Barack Obama declared that he and his supporters were "five days away from fundamentally transforming America". The comment flew by most who heard it, but the grim reality is that since his election, this is exactly what he is doing. If most Americans were aware of it, they would be really pissed.

Over on FOX News, Glenn Beck is brilliantly laying out this case on his 5PM EST program, and he is throwing up ratings never before seen. But, and sit down for this one, most of the mainstream media portray Beck as a crackpot, and therefore, many American citizens out busting their ass to make a living and spending time with their family do not have time to get the real story and discount Becks presentations.

In addition, that same mainstream media, as well as several elected officials, have labeled those voicing their opposition to Obama and his policies as racists. Sure, it is a sign of defeat when you pull out the race card, but while all this rhetoric is being tossed about, it distracts us from the reality that the America out founders fought to create is in fact being transformed by this administration.

In a column in Investors Business Daily, famed author and economist, Dr. Thomas Sowell, The Rose and Milton Friedman Senior Fellow on Public Policy at Stanford's Hoover Institution, lays out the evidence. No one can claim Sowell is a crackpot, or for that matter, a racist. Sowell is one of the top economists around these days and his opinions are well worth your consideration. Please take a moment to read his editorial, which I find right on target.

Attacks on Small Business Claim "The King"

In the current climate with the government employing an all out assault on small business, a local BAHL favorite has been claimed as a victim, The Sandwich King.

I made every effort to have lunch there every Friday either with some friends or with the editorial page of Investors Business Daily. The King made outstanding sub sandwiches, and I was particularly fond of the heated turkey and cheese. The staff was great and it was a favorite of many businessman in the area.

They were operating on a thin margin in there for sure, and it appears a broken down HVAC system struck the defining blow.

Small business cannot get out of the way these days. Inexplicably, the minimum wage is set to go up later this month increasing the costs of retaining employees. Taxes are rising and energy costs are set to become deliver a crushing blow to the revenue stream based on the Cap & Trade debacle working its way through our governance.

Small business success is critical, get that, critical, to our economic system functioning properly, and in the current environment, small business is taking it in the shorts. Governmental interference in the form of raising the costs of doing business for small business is having an extremely negative effect. Look around your town!

Until the mindset changes, I am afraid economically we are set to tread water at best going forward, from Wall Street to Main Street.
